He expressed the view that “his connection with regional issues has never contributed to the political resolution of conflicts, it has only exacerbated them”.
Lavrov believes that the ICC continues to “make new scandalous decisions, ignoring the immunity of state officials” today. The diplomat noted that the international court, which is currently the legal body of the United Nations (UN), is under great pressure.
“In this example, the neo-Nazi Kiev regime and its American masters have litigated perversely against the Russian Federation under the Convention on the Prevention of Genocide,” Lavrov said.
According to the Russian diplomat, Western countries are abusing international norms of justice. The minister stated that the court would not be able to withstand pressure from Western politicians and therefore prescribed temporary measures.
In parallel, more than 30 countries, especially the European Union and NATO, are trying to participate in the process on the Ukrainian side. “We consider such actions a blatant abuse of court procedures, open coercion and blackmail,” Lavrov said.
