Lack of political awareness or deliberate misunderstanding of one’s own country’s interests? How is it possible that a third person in the country accepts Germany’s superpower tendencies and justifies Scholz’s words? And he goes further and further in his statements. Almost a year ago he announced that Berlin would curb our “national selfishness”, now he wants to remove the unanimity rule from the vote. And the Marshal of the Polish Senate sees nothing wrong with this!
“The EU cannot afford national vetoes
German chancellor he followed the principle of staunchly continuing his own story, denying mistakes (both historical and current) and relentlessly pursuing his own vision of Europe. For almost a year he has been spreading the concept of a superstate, and with increasing boldness he argues that the European Union can only be expanded if there is a change in the rules of operation. “I proposed gradually transition to majority decision-making in common foreign policy, but also in other areas, for example in budgetary policy” – said Scholz in August 2022 at a lecture at Charles University in Prague. In an article he published a year ago in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, he stated directly: “We just can’t afford national vetoes anymore, for example on foreign policy.” Since then he has conquered the idea several times, including recently.
German vision of Europe
On 9 May, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz gave a speech at the European Parliament in Strasbourg as part of the series of debates ‘This is Europe’, in which the heads of government of the member states share their views on the future of the EU. He took on the role of the host of all of Europe and a great friend of Ukraine, exemplifying helping the nation fight with Russia. Not a word about mistakes, not a single blow to the chest. In return, further announcements of subordination of EU countries to the hegemony of Germany.
We need more decisions from the EU Council, which will be taken by qualified majority, for example in the areas of foreign and fiscal policy. I will try to convince my partners on the council of this. To the skeptics, I would say, this is not unanimity or 100 percent. support for all decisions gives the greatest democratic legitimacy. On the contrary – it is the struggle for majority and alliances that characterize us as democrats. Finding compromises that take into account the interests of minorities is the right thing to do. This is consistent with our idea of a liberal democracy
– argued Scholz in the EP, spreading his view of the trade union, which we have experienced more and more seriously in recent times. The fact that this is just the beginning of the dictatorial subjugation of countries that want to retain full sovereignty is confirmed by further statements from the German Chancellor:
“It also seems to me necessary for the future that the principles of democracy and the rule of law be properly respected in the European Union. We must insist on that. So why not use this discussion about EU reform to demand that the European Commission be strengthened so that it can launch infringement proceedings when our values are not respected? I am thinking here of fundamental values such as freedom, democracy, equality, the rule of law and respect for human rights.
Beautiful and noble ideals. It’s just that under these obvious concepts are hidden new definitions, new interpretations and neo-Marxist solutions, combined with dictatorial methods for their implementation. The protection of the family is violence for the EU, social justice is illegal, respect for unborn life is a violation of human rights, refusal to publicly display the sexuality of LGBT people becomes a violation of equality for the EU. The ideological madness continues, and Olaf Scholz, who announces that nation-states are being silenced by taking away their freedom of choice in voting, simultaneously claims that it is in the name of freedom and the rule of law.
“A combination of oligarchy and tyranny of the majority”
It seems there is only one answer to this ideological madness. This was perfectly expressed during the debate in Strasbourg by Prof. Richard Legutko:
“To understand Germany’s role in the EU, one must start with a basic question: what kind of political system is the Union? I admit it is a combination of oligarchy and tyranny of the majority. Parliament coexists as this tyranny of the majority. The Commission, on the other hand, is a typically oligarchic institution – unelected, with limited democratic legitimacy and unchallenged power.”
Attempts to subjugate Poland, take away our right to vote and impose solutions that violate our country’s sovereignty are becoming increasingly brutal. Therefore, the obvious response to such ideas is to reject them. The basic concern for the national interest requires this. President Andrzej Dudawhen asked to comment on Scholz’s position, he responded with such clarity and concern:
“It would be a pity if a member state were to blackmail the rest of the community and the EU candidate countries that if its demands and demands are not met, it would block the accession processes.”
Grodzki: ‘liberum veto led to tragedy’
However, it turns out that things are not so obvious to a third person in the country. When asked about Scholz’s call to limit unanimity rule in the EU, Marshal Tomasz Grodzki noted nothing alarming. On the contrary!
“The discussion on this topic can be interesting because if we look at what tragedy led our country to the liberum veto, i.e. ultimately to the divorces and disappearance from the map, an in-depth discussion on the principle of unanimity can undoubtedly take placebut as I know the mills of the European Union, it will not be soon and will be the subject of an in-depth discussion”
said the president of the senate.
One would like to believe that this is a slip of the tongue. Because if Tomasz Grodzki not only understands the historical context, but also does not distinguish between national interest, internal Polish affairs and the removal of the Polish voice in the international arena, then the problem we have with the opposition is much bigger than you might think think . And that is why Poland was so powerless against Germany under their rule, politically compliant, economically subjugated and unable to form independent alliances and make independent decisions that would work to strengthen our sovereignty. It is therefore not surprising that Berlin is so interested in changing power in Poland.
