Representatives of Law and Justice structures in Warsaw sent a letter to the Mayor of Warsaw, Rafał Trzaskowski, proposing cooperation between political departments on strategic investments in the construction of the Warsaw metro network.
A complete proposal for the development of the metro station
Warsaw PiS MP and leader Jarosław Krajewski pointed out that Warsaw is one and deserves sustainable development.
He stressed that the plan to build the metro network in the coming years is a strategic investment for the citizens of Warsaw. He pointed out that in 2018, during the campaign, Law and Justice presented a whole, complete proposal for the development of the Warsaw metro network, prepared by experts.
We want to offer the mayor of Warsaw cooperation across political departments on strategic investments in the construction of the Warsaw metro network. We ask him to present both the opinions and the analysis that underpinned the presentation of his proposal for the expansion of the metro network by 2050
said Krajewski.
I believe it is possible to build a broad consensus and agreement accepted by the vast majority of Warsaw residents to reach a compromise on the further direction of the metro development. So that we can talk about a sustainable agreement for the construction of the metro. But we don’t want to race with PO politicians on empty promises, we just want substantive, reliable work that will bring the citizens of Warsaw closer to the fact that the metro in their districts will be real
– added.
We hope that President Trzaskowski rises above these specific interests of PO and that we can talk as a constructive opposition with the currently ruling Warsaw magistrate Rafał Trzaskowski about the main infrastructure investments in Warsaw
he stressed.
He noted that he hopes that Mayor Trzaskowski will not only provide analysis and advice from experts in the field, but also credible sources of funding for the construction of the subway through 2050.
We want to talk about facts, not empty promises from Civic Platform
– added.
5 metro lines in Warsaw
The head of the Warsaw PiS city councilors, Dariusz Figura, explained that the plans to expand the metro submitted this year by President Trzaskowski are very similar to those of PiS in 2018. He stressed that three months have passed since the announcement of these plans and that nothing happens. He recalled that public consultations were due to take place in May, but they have still not started.
Our letter proposes a certain method to reach a consensus on the expansion of the metro
he explained.
He stressed that according to the Law and Justice Party of Warsaw, in addition to very important public consultations, there should be a panel of experts, consultations at the political and social level and a debate at the Warsaw Council forum.
It cannot be the case that plans for the development of the metro network are only approved in one motion in the decision on the development study. Such a debate is necessary
he assessed.
Transport expert Jarosław Kiepura said the team he worked in was preparing two drafts.
Connection from Wilanów to Tarchomin, in the north-south axis and in the east-west axis from Gocławek to Karolin. In 2019, these concepts have been professionally analysed, i.e. a preliminary design study has been carried out
he said, adding that the results were promising.
The line from Wilanów to Tarchomin was more heavily loaded than the first metro line. On the other hand, a very solid result was also achieved on the second line
– added. He noted that the partial results performed for the city were similar. The Wilanów – Tarchomin line, in a slightly modified course, gives 30 thousand. passengers in the rush hour, while the second line – 19 thousand.
He clarified that Line 5 presented by the Town Hall starts exactly at the same place as the one proposed by PiS, at the new location of the PKP Warszawa Gocławek Railway Station and runs more or less to the West Railway Station along the route proposed by them.
On the other hand, we planned from Dworzec Zachodni, guided by our experience that there are insufficient flows west of the station to justify the construction of the subway (certainly there is no one along Aleje Jerozolimskie towards Ursus), direct the subway to populous Odolany and on to Carolina. Our idea is that every second metro that runs on the second metro line will not stop at Karolin station, but will continue to the line towards Gocławek. From a planning point of view, this means a large addition of passengers already at the starting station. Because many residents of the north of Bemowo would be interested in going to the Technical University, for example, and this would be the fastest way to get there. And in this way we managed to get the right filling
– said the expert, adding that the line from Tarchomin to Wilanów would fill up immediately.
