I am friends with the chairman of the PSL, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, and there will certainly be a conversation soon about my start in the parliamentary elections from the PSL list, because this is an environment that is ideologically close to me, Deputy Bogusław Sonik emphasized in an interview with PAP on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, Bogusław Sonik announced on RMF FM that he was leaving Civic Platform.
Today I leave the Platform (…) such divorces after 22 years are difficult; I think our ways have finally parted
– he said, judging that the PO had “turned left”.
It is not enough for me to just be a company that manages the so called hot water from the tap, but this is the direction it is heading i.e. a party that brings people together or attracts people who have the so called peace of mind (… ) satisfied with what was, and those who want a guarantee that it will be the same
Sonic said.
When asked if he intends to stand as a candidate from the PSL and Poland 2050 lists in the parliamentary elections, he replied that the heads of these groups should say so. When asked what would happen if they made such a proposal, Sonik replied:
Of course, this is worth considering and even accepting.
Sonik emphasized in an interview with PAP on Wednesday that he still wants to be an active politician. When asked if he sees himself on the PSL and Poland 2050 lists in the upcoming parliamentary elections, he replied that it was too early to talk about it.
It’s hard to stay ahead of the facts. I don’t know if that group will be interested
he noticed.
To draw attention to the fact that, according to some politicians, PO has already “agreed” to start in the parliamentary elections from the list of PSL and Poland 2050, Sonik replied:
I do not agree with it. It’s too early and I haven’t had any conversations before either. Yes, I am friends with the president of PSL, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, and there will certainly be a conversation about that soon, because this is an environment that is ideologically close to me
Sonic stressed.
When asked by PAP if he would see Sonik on the PSL and Poland 2050 lists, PSL MP Marek Sawicki replied:
As for me, of course I see a place for Mr. Sonik, because his past, his biography and his views are very close to my heart. Therefore, I will urge my colleagues from Lesser Poland to include a worthy place in the list for MP Sonik
observed Sawicki.
As he emphasized, Sonik is “a valuable man, a valuable politician who has come to the conclusion that he is no longer on the road with the head of PO Donald Tusk and Civic Platform.”
He is a politician with merits, with a big, beautiful biography, but at the same time a man with very hard conservative views, which suits me personally
Sawicki emphasized.
When asked by RMF FM about the reason for his decision, Sonik replied that it was, among other things, for the announcement by the leadership of the PO about the law that liberalizes anti-abortion regulations and that people who do not support it should not be on the electoral lists. will be posted.
In my opinion, whatever my opinion on it, this is unacceptable
– he said.
In September 2022, Donald Tusk stated that “on the first day after winning the election” a bill will be introduced to the Sejm, assuming that abortion up to 12 weeks will be solely a woman’s decision. He also suggested that there would be no room for opponents of such provisions on electoral lists.
I will absolutely maintain my position in the Platform on these matters as I prepare the lists for parliament. If I say today that we guarantee women make these decisions, I don’t want to be embarrassed later because someone will represent a different opinion. That is what you are assured of
announced Tusk.
The response of the PO Lesser Poland
Sonik’s statement did not surprise the head of the Małopolska PO, Aleksander Miszalski, where the outgoing MP comes from. “This decision does not mean much, we have been looking forward to it for a long time, because MP Sonik has been absent from parliamentary work for a long time, and also here in the region – he did not come to meetings, he was not very active in parliament either “, he remarked on Wednesday, head of the PO Lesser Poland.
According to him, Sonik “has stated many times that he is not on the road with the PO, both in terms of his views and the new job ahead.”
Of course regret, regret for every parliamentarian, especially with such a rich opposition and parliamentary map, but everyone has to follow their own path. As Bogusław Sonik puts it, he will prefer to stay in the opposition, so we have to wish him luck
Mishalski added.
