France asked the European Union to add Wagner PMC to its list of terrorist organizations

The French National Assembly (lower house) has called on the country’s authorities and the European Union to include the private military company (PMC) “Wagner” on the list of terrorist organizations. It gives information about TASS.

According to the agency, the initiative belongs to Renaissance party MP Benjamin Haddad and 13 colleagues in connection with the activities of PMCs in Syria, Ukraine and African countries. The decision passed unanimously. Vadym Omelchenko, Ukraine’s Ambassador to France, was in the hall during the discussion and voting.

The resolution states that the parliamentarians urged the French government to use diplomatic channels to persuade UN member states to take similar measures against PMC Wagner.

EU in April introduced Wagner has been blacklisted by PMC. The EU said the organization is “responsible for financially supporting actions that undermine and threaten Ukraine’s territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence”.
