It had to happen. Bogusław Sonik left the civic platform. As he explained on RMF FM radio, it was the result of two factors: he felt “expressed” for a long time, but he was also fed up with the atmosphere in the party. It was clear to the naked eye that the politician did not fit in with the PO. He has too often said what he thinks in the media and has moved away from party lines. And after Donald Tusk announced and Marcin Kierwiński confirmed that there is no place for abortion opponents on PO lists, Sonik’s retirement from PO was only a matter of time.
We are not ready for a politician who is completely honest, for a politician who does not calculate, does not plan, but simply tells it like it is
– said Izabela Leszczyna in TOK FM when the PO changed the candidate in the presidential election from Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska to Rafał Trzaskowski.
And it seems MP Leszczyna was right, because the PO is still not ready for a completely honest politician who does not count and tell as it is. And such a politician is Bogusław Sonik.
I value independence of thought. I am not able to repeat generalities, slogans, I try to maintain inner freedom and honesty, have my own view of the world and politics. It will always be
– Bogusław Sonik told me in an interview that we published in the weekly “Sieci” a few months ago.
After Grzegorz Schetyna was no longer the head of the Civic Platform, the party began to sink in the polls and began to drift. There were internal disputes and criticism pouring out. An example of this was a letter from dozens of deputies demanding changes, addressed to the then head of PO Borys Budka. Then the ship arrived with Donald Tusk and calmed the stormy waves. For this reason, most PO members welcome the captain’s return. It was possible to stop the outflow of voters and PO members to Szymon Hołownia, and even some supporters returned. Just like believing that victory is possible. However, last year it turned out that even with Donald Tusk at the helm it was not possible to return to the old quotations. We have not yet achieved the best result of Grzegorz Schetyna’s time as chairman. Speaking publicly, we managed to save the PO from sinking, but there’s still a little bit left for full success
– said Sonik in the same interview. And yet:
Certainly, PO today is not a party with a clear ideological message. He presents a broad spectrum of views that should lead to victory. And that’s important. What is certain, however, is that Polish parties have been leading parties for years. And here PO differs little from PiS.
Bogusław Sonik not only dares to speak critically about Donald Tusk and his idea to take power, but also stands for life. Wanting to stay true to his views, he had to say goodbye to the party, but I hope he will not say goodbye to politics, because it needs honest, courageous people with a strong moral backbone.
At this point, when it appears that there is no room for abortion opponents in PO, it is worth recalling that the PO’s ideological statement of December 21, 2001 is still in force and no new statement has yet been made. has been prepared. The PO was then a formation that referred to conservative-liberal, republican and Christian-democratic values. The second point of this document is “Foundation of Values”. What is written there?
The foundation of Western civilization is the Decalogue. Together we believe in the lasting value of the standards contained therein. We do not want the state to assume the role of guardian of the Decalogue. But the state cannot allow some people, by violating its principles, to deprive others of their dignity and rights, or to corrupt those who have not yet matured to full responsibility for their lives. Therefore, it is the task of the state to gently support the family and traditional moral norms, in the service of its sustainability and development. Therefore, the law should protect human life, just like the legislation in force today in Poland, which also prohibits euthanasia and limits genetic research. The task of politics is to constantly draw boundaries, the crossing of which by one person or group of people endangers the whole community. But also the limits of public authority, the crossing of which violates the autonomy of the individual. Good politics can protect citizens against anarchy and privacy
– we read in the Krakow Declaration.
Donald Tusk must announce as soon as possible that this document is no longer in effect.
