The Russian ambassador to Poland, Sergei Andreyev, appeared in front of the Mausoleum of Soviet soldiers in Warsaw. The Russian diplomat failed to enter the cemetery and lay flowers. Andreyev, escorted by the police, drove away from the Mausoleum of Soviet soldiers.
Let us not forget that on May 9, 2022, the Russian ambassador to Poland, Sergei Andreyev, wanted to lay flowers in front of the Mausoleum of Soviet soldiers in Warsaw, because on that day Russia celebrated the day of victory over Nazi Germany. Demonstrators with Ukrainian and Polish flags prevented him from passing the site where Soviet soldiers were commemorated, chanted anti-Russian slogans and doused the ambassador with a red substance. This year, the Russian ambassador again tried to put flowers in the cemetery – this time he failed.
The Russian ambassador did not lay flowers
Andreyev appeared in front of the cemetery gate just before 11:00 am. Ukrainian demonstrators were already waiting for the Russian diplomat, who stopped him from laying flowers. There was no incident, and Andreyev, escorted by the police, drove away from the Mausoleum of Soviet soldiers.
As you can see, it is impossible to place flowers
– said Andreyev, addressing the journalists gathered on the site, adding that “we finally want to defeat Nazism, wherever it is.”
The Russian ambassador wore a St. George – a symbol of Russia’s support in the war in Ukraine.
A man wearing such a ribbon also appeared in front of the Mausoleum of Soviet soldiers in Warsaw shouting provocative slogans.
