According to Ovechko, Japan plans to stop peaceful development and return to rearmament. He added that the Japanese government plans to repeal the pacifist provisions of the constitution, which the country has been proud of for decades.

“There is a refusal by the administration of Prime Minister Fumio Kishida to return to the tracks of peaceful development and unbridled militarization of the country as proclaimed by the previous generation of politicians,” Ovechko said.

The diplomat stressed the growing influence of NATO in relations with Tokyo.
