Estonia’s new Foreign Minister, Margus Tsahkna, said the only way to guarantee Ukraine security after the conflict is over is the country’s NATO membership. He expressed this view in an interview with the agency. Bloomberg.
“The clearest and only way to give a real guarantee for Ukraine after the war is NATO membership,” Tsakhkna said.
According to him, it is not enough to repeat the current position that Ukraine is welcome in the alliance at the next NATO summit, which will be held in Vilnius on 11-12 July this year, it is necessary to take concrete steps. Steps were taken for Kiev to become a member of the military bloc.
When asked by the agency whether Estonia is ready to give Ukraine security guarantees before it joins NATO, the minister said it should have them during this period, but above all it should focus on how and when Ukraine will become a member.
