On May 9, Russian Ambassador to Poland Sergei Andreev plans to lay a wreath at the Mausoleum of the Soviet Soldier Cemetery in Warsaw. Last year, in front of the necropolis, an official of the Putin regime was doused with a red liquid symbolizing blood. “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs received a note and did not advise to allow the above ceremonies to take place,” emphasizes Foreign Ministry spokesman Łukasz Jasina in an interview with the Onet.pl portal.
Andreyev also wants to celebrate “Victory Day” this year
May 9 is “Victory Day” for Russians. Propaganda parades are held in the Russian Federation and in Poland, although the celebrations are much more modest, they arouse similar revulsion – all due to the fact that Russia has been conducting a large-scale aggression against Ukraine since February 24 last year. In our country, on the other hand, more than one million Ukrainian citizens found shelter.
Even the events of last year’s “ceremony” in the Mausoleum of the Soviet soldiers in Warsaw did not discourage the ambassador of the Russian Federation, Sergey Andreyev. According to the media, the Russian embassy was not only planning to lay wreaths. There was also an announcement of a rally for some 300 people, but it is being organized by a private individual – possibly an anti-war demonstration.
In an interview with Onet, spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Łukasz Jasina said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had received the note from the embassy.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs received a note advising that the above ceremonies should not take place
he stressed.
When asked whether the Ministry is not afraid of further protests and whether the Polish authorities intend to provide the “organization of law enforcement” demanded by the Russians, he indicated that the Mausoleum of Soviet soldiers is not under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Business falls. .
However, the application was not received by the capital Warsaw.
To the Warsaw City Hall also did not receive any notification from these institutions about the planned meeting or the request to occupy the right of way. At the same time, it is a cemetery, so if someone wants to put flowers there, he does not need special permission
– said the spokeswoman for the town hall, Monika Beuth.
A little later, the town hall received a call for a picket for 300 people, which was to take place in front of the Mausoleum between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. According to Onet, it was reported by a private individual, so it may be an anti-war protest.
Painted ambassador
Last year, during the “celebration” of Victory Day, the Russian ambassador was doused in red liquid, symbolizing Ukrainian bloodshed at the hands of Putin’s orcs.
There was also a scuffle and the demonstrators snatched wreaths from the hands of a representative of the Kremlin regime, whom they then trampled.
Andreyev was surrounded by police and then “evacuated” in a car that came to pick him up.
The Warsaw police station reported that the Russians received “recommendations that indicated the risk”.
Photos and videos of the incident during last year’s celebrations went viral.
