We rightly smile with pity when Mr Simon Holownia announces that “two tribes are “threshing” in Poland, and he “wants a third gone”. camp, clearly working for Tusk’s regime and trying to mislead voters for this purpose. This party was created to rule alongside the Civic Platform, or perhaps better serve some of its support (there is talk of a major role of the post-communist special services in the support of this formation). And that role she will fulfill. I myself am not even convinced that the settlement of Hołownia with PSL will survive. The camp of the Third Republic of Poland has its own methods of pressure, pressure and blackmail.
In the case of Hołownia, the voters of the pro-Polish camp understand the essence of the matter. However, it amazes me how many people feed on illusions about Confederation. They automatically assume that if something happens, this force will form a coalition with the United Right, that patriotic reflexes are strong there.
This is a risky and wrong assumption.
Let’s coolly recap what we know about the Confederacy.
1. It is true that it originated as a formation of the hard right. But time has changed her. Dangerous pro-Russian currents have sprung up there, and its core has consistently shrunk from participating in most identity and independence struggles.
2. Important circles of the Confederation were founded by Roman Giertych and his pupils never settled with this heritage. in the backstage of politics, Giertych is said to still have significant influence there. And what his political goals are, probably everyone knows.
3. In the last presidential election, for the second round, they had to choose between the unequivocally pro-Polish candidate Andrzej Duda and the undisputed man of the cosmopolitan left, Rafał Trzaskowski. They either chose the latter or declared they didn’t care.
4. In turn, just before the parliamentary elections in 2019, TVN strongly supported the Confederation in a material dedicated to it in the main edition of the main news program of this opposition channel. They talked about young, great people who work to realize their own dreams and ideas. TVN does not receive that support on empty receipts. Like inflatable polls from Michnik, where a vision of Confederate power is built.
5. Confederate politicians are declaratively against the whole “gang of four”, as Janusz Korwin-Mikke once called the major parties, but on a daily basis they only focus on pounding the United Right, in very brutal terms. There is a strong belief that the road to their greatness is through the “political corpse of PiS”. Such a build-up of resentment against a potential coalition partner has its consequences.
To sum up: it is possible that when it was necessary to make a choice, the Confederacy would break and some would choose a patriotic alliance, there are many decent people there, I will not put them all in one bag. A lot is possible in politics. But the assumption that such a coalition would be self-evident is incorrect. One can imagine their participation in the opposition bloc as well as with Jobbik in Hungary.
The only option to guarantee Poland a stable, pro-state regime for the next four years is an independent victory by Prime Minister Jarosław Kaczyński’s camp.
