In the shadow of the gigantic grain scandal, Polish farms have been struggling with numerous problems that have been piling up for months, including energy and fertilizer prices. PiS plowed the Polish countryside – said KO MP Arkadiusz Myrcha on Saturday.
“Neither the Agriculture Ministry nor the Prime Minister want to talk specifically about it.
KO MPs Arkadiusz Myrcha and Marta Golbik posed five questions to the Polish government at a press conference outside the PiS headquarters in Warsaw on Saturday.
In the shadow of the gigantic grain scandal, Polish farms, Polish agriculture, are facing many problems that have been piling up every day for months
said Myrcha.
Golbik asked: why a record amount of Polish farmland ended up in the hands of foreigners during the PiS rule; why untested grain from Ukraine entered Poland; why the Polish government did nothing about the grain crisis for nine months; why Danish and German chops are predominant on Polish tables these days; why are dairy producers on the verge of bankruptcy today?
Myrcha judged that “PiS plowed up the Polish countryside”. He noted that the problems farmers face include high maintenance costs, energy and fertilizer prices, incoming products from Ukraine or land sales.
There are so many of these problems today that neither the Ministry of Agriculture nor the Prime Minister (Mateusz – PAP) Morawiecki wants to talk about it
added the MP.
Kosiniak-Kamysz: “Better change” is needed
The Polish countryside needs a “better change”, and the Polish People’s Party has its own idea and plan for the Polish countryside and Poland – convinced PSL President Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz at Saturday’s briefing in Wiśnicz Mały (Lesser Poland).
The leader of the peasant party met with journalists at a farm belonging to one of the farmers in Wiśnicz Mały in the poviat of Bochnia. As he argued, the Polish countryside currently has no host and one is needed for a “better change” to take place there.
We have our idea for the Polish countryside and we have our plan for the Polish countryside and Poland. We will be a good host, a “better change” is needed
– said Kosiniak-Kamysz.
According to him, Polish farmers and ranchers are currently operating in extremely dangerous conditions, exposed to income instability and lack of predictability.
This situation in the Polish countryside is no longer acceptable, Polish farms are collapsing every day
– pointed out the president of the PSL.
As he announced, at the Tuesday session of the Sejm dedicated to agricultural affairs, PSL will present the problems of Polish farmers, among which he pointed out, among others: the lack of a designated place for intervention buying or the still unresolved problem of the influx of other agri-food products from Ukraine, apart from four kinds of grains.
To this day, the grain port has not been built – instead of building a large communication port for tens or hundreds of billions, two billion would be enough to donate and support the construction of a grain port in Gdańsk
– Added Kosiniak-Kamysz.
“The problem will not go away, it will only get worse.”
Polskie Stronnictwo Ludowe – announced the chairman of this party – also expects at the next session of the Sejm to consider bills submitted by it regarding the introduction of a deposit system for all agri-food products and increasing the share of bio-components in fuels.
According to him, the PSL is the only party still present in the Polish countryside, and the other parties remember agriculture when it becomes a media topic.
They were there when this problem appeared in the media every day two or three weeks ago. Now they have forgotten, but the problem is not going away, the problem is getting bigger, soon with soft fruit, we are already talking about it today
protested the leader of the people.
Today’s diagnosis is cruel – life in the Polish countryside is in danger, food security and the patient, who is a host in Poland, a farmer, can keep himself artificially alive
– said Kosiniak-Kamysz.
As he stressed, the PSL alliance with Poland 2050 was established “so that this voice would be stronger in the next Sejm”.
PSL focuses on stabilizing farm income, there should be different sources of income, from farms, through the development and release of green energy, including photovoltaic farms or biogas plants, as well as the participation of farmers in processing and sales through the development of cooperatives
the head of the people enumerated.
“Without it there will be no village and the village will turn into a bedroom.”
According to him, people who do not live from agriculture but live in the countryside and run small farms for their own use and that of their neighbors should be able to do so without any restrictions, with the right to direct sales.
If we rule, you can do it and breed without any restrictions, without any registration with the Agency for Restructuring and Modernization of Agriculture – neither chickens nor eggs, without constant phytosanitary inspections, everything now restricts
Kosiniak-Kamysz announced.
It needs to be recreated, because it is also the essence of the Polish countryside – without it there is no village and the village turns into a bedroom. And we want it to be a village, not of the past, but a village of the future, but also based on tradition, on what we grow from – these are our tasks and commitment
– emphasized the president of the PSL.
