It is good that Civic Platform notices that there is a Polish village, because so far it has only seen and funded large cities – Agriculture Minister Robert Telus said on Saturday, referring to KO deputies’ accusations of “ploughing” the polish countryside by PiS.
At the press conference in Opoczno (Łódź Voivodeship), the head of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development referred to Saturday’s briefing with KO deputies. Arkadiusz Myrcha and Marty Golbik opined that “PiS plowed up the Polish countryside”.
We remember who wanted to collapse the Polish countryside, poviat Poland. Close bus lines, police stations, post offices, don’t give money to the Polish countryside, raise the retirement age. Agricultural pension for PO – PLN 780, at the moment – PLN 1,600. This is such a difference when we talk about plowing the Polish countryside
Telus said.
He added: “It is good that the Civic Platform notices that there is a Polish village, because so far it has only seen and funded large cities.”
The Civic Platform, which did not require poviat Poland, which it rolled up, begins to talk about Polish agriculture. She noted the problem of Polish agriculture. It is a pity that the PO does not suggest what we should do, but only criticizes
Telus emphasizes.
KO MPs posed five questions to the Polish government during the briefing, including: why a record amount of Polish farmland ended up in the hands of foreigners during the PiS rule; why untested grain from Ukraine entered Poland; why the Polish government did nothing about the grain crisis for nine months; why Danish and German chops are predominant on Polish tables these days; why are dairy producers on the verge of bankruptcy today?
The head of the Ministry of Agriculture argued that it was not true that more land was sold to foreigners during PiS rule than during PO-PSL rule.
In the years 2008-2015, 695 hectares were sold from the funds, of which 262 hectares were agricultural land. From 2016 to 2022, we sold 380 hectares, half less
he noticed.
He also assured that every grain imported into Poland is tested.
We test grain because we care about Poland’s safety. This is very important to us. I advised, ordered to check every grain of the so-called that is in warehouses in Poland. Every grain is tested
Telus said.
“The importance of Polish agriculture is the most important thing for us”
“The importance of Polish agriculture is the most important to us, even more important than some EU regulations, Agriculture Minister Robert Telus said on Saturday. He pointed out that “we can also change EU regulations for the benefit and interest of Polish agriculture.”
Telus on Saturday at his parliamentary office in Opoczno (Łódź Voivodeship) summarized the first month of the administration of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
The location of the conference was not chosen by chance, because I left here exactly one month ago and did not work locally, but in Warsaw with a new mission and tasks related to Polish agriculture. It was a month of very intensive work for our agriculture
he explained.
He recalled that he began his tenure by resolving the issue of grain flowing to Poland and remaining in the country from Ukraine. Among the greatest achievements of the first month of his work as minister, he pointed to Ukraine’s import ban to Poland of certain agricultural products, including grain, and “opening the EU’s eyes” to this problem.
It’s a controversial decision. Because on the one hand we are at war and as Poles we are helping Ukraine, and on the other hand we are closing the border. With this decision, we wanted to make the European Union understand that this is a very serious matter. And so it happened. (…) The famous solidarity corridors have finally started working, because until now it was not a solidarity corridor. Products from Ukraine came to Poland, to border countries, but did not go further to Europe
he explained.
According to Telus, the PiS government understands the difficult situation of the Polish farmer and supports him in surviving the difficult situation related to the war in Ukraine.
The importance of Polish agriculture is the most important to us, even more important than some EU regulations. Because it shows that we can also change EU regulations for the benefit and interest of Polish agriculture
Telus said.
The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development also assured that the alliance of frontline countries – Poland, Bulgaria, Romania, Slovakia and Hungary – will continue with regard to agricultural products from Ukraine. Improvements to the solidarity corridor will also be discussed with the EU. He said that on Friday the coalition partners decided to submit an application to the European Commission for an increase in support for farmers in view of the situation caused by the importation of Ukrainian agricultural products into the market.
The Minister of Agriculture also called the signing of an agreement with the protesting farmers’ unions a success.
And another thing – historic financial support to Polish farmers from the state budget. It involves approximately PLN 10 billion in allocated funds. We are the only country in Europe that helps its farmers with the purchase of fertilizers. 4.7 billion is intended to help farmers buy fertilizer
Telus said.
Another – as he said – “a concrete case is to help farmers who sell grain – 2.2 thousand. PLN per hectare of wheat.
The biggest challenge in the near future – according to the head of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development – is to empty grain stores for this year’s harvest. Telus also announced a thorough monitoring of products entering Poland from Ukraine, such as: frozen raspberries, poultry meat, apple juice.
The head of the Ministry of Agriculture spoke of threats and problems and called “fake news in Putin’s story”.
This fake news released in Poland is really used for Putin’s propaganda. He calls on his fellow politicians to beware of fake news. Let’s criticize each other, but let’s not harm Poland
– he said.
He denied information that more land had been sold to foreigners during PiS’s rule than during PO-PSL’s rule, and that Poland was “flooded with honey from Ukraine”.
The second fake news that harms the Polish farmer – Poland is fake news that Poles eat flour with worms. It is harmful information that the grain has not been tested. Every grain is tested, especially recently. We test grain because we care about Poland’s safety. I advised to supposedly check every cereal. which is located in warehouses in Poland. Every grain is tested
he assured.
