We are not stopping our efforts to motivate our German partners so that Zeitenwende (turning point) is not just a slogan, but that it is filled with real content, said EU Minister Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk, who took part in the May 3 Constitution Day celebrations in the Polish Embassy in Berlin.
Zeitenwende
In a speech at the embassy in Berlin, Minister Szynkowski vel Sęk emphasized, among other things, that “after February 24, 2022, the world will no longer be the same for any of us. The stark truth is that the troubling changes in the world order began much earlier. Unfortunately, not everyone was willing to admit this, either because they had either benefited too long from the peace economic dividend regardless of the cost of mounting threats, or because they were swept up in dreams of world peace without military involvement.
We therefore welcome the idea of Zeitenwende announced by Chancellor Olaf Scholz
assured the minister.
It is important to apply the new rules consistently and efficiently. The success of this project is in the vital interest of the Federal Republic of Germany, because only then can credibility be gradually restored after years of failed Eastern policies.
“The answer is yet to come”
Asked by PAP how he assessed the progress declared by Chancellor Scholz after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, a turning point in German politics, Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk stated that “this progress is clearly smaller than we all expected at the beginning. But if the had it not been for the activity of Polish diplomacy, if it had not been for the voice of public opinion here in Germany, I think that the Zeitenwende declaration would not have been possible at all, and the subsequent steps to implement this declaration would also have been have not taken place.
We do not stop our efforts to motivate our German partners so that Zeitenwende is not just (…) a slogan, but filled with real content
emphasized the minister.
This works to some extent
he said.
Will it succeed in the long run and will it lead to Ukraine receiving support that will enable it to launch a successful counter-offensive? I think the answer to this question is yet to come
– told PAP Szymon Szynkowski alias Sęk.
