The term was coined by 49-year-old Peter Schwartz, a Pennsylvania resident. Judge Amit Mehta said Schwartz was a “soldier” who allegedly opposed democracy.
In the investigation, it was determined that Schwartz took part in the attack on the police, prevented the counting of votes in the 2020 presidential elections, and also took part under two more articles. The prosecutor demanded that Schwartz be sentenced to 24 years in prison. Schwartz’s lawyer noted that if his client were given such a period, it would only more clearly highlight the political background of the persecution.
Previously, four members of the far-right Proud Boys (“Proud Boys”) were convicted in a Washington courtroom of conspiring to incite sedition and hindering the peaceful transfer of power in the case of the attack on the Capitol.
