Consell’s plenary meeting, held this morning at the Communications Palace in Alicante, approved the additional reduction. 10 cents on final price cubic meters of desalinated water.

This discount will be added to the subsidy of the Spanish Government so that the final price per cubic meter to which the farmers belong 26 irrigation communities will be 0.22 euros per cubic meter.
Consell’s goal is to “consolidate lasting support to place this resource on a competitive threshold” so that irrigators in the state of Alicante can have additional water resources through desalination at an affordable price.
Ximo Puig considers it “essential” to have a strategy to get “forever water”, describing the Tajo-Segura transfer as “inevitable” in that sense, while also getting Consell to participate.
