The UN is facing a decline in credibility and the organization must take into account critical assessments from the field. This was stated by Vasily Nebenzya, Russia’s Permanent Representative to the UN, on Wednesday at the UN Security Council meeting on trust-building in international relations, TASS reported.

The permanent representative of the Russian Federation announced that recently the credibility of the organization has decreased significantly. Whereas, the UN, on the contrary, should represent the interests of all member states and be a demonstration of impartiality and goodwill.

The diplomat also states that employees must act in full compliance with Article 100 of the UN Charter, but that trust in the organization has been damaged. Public News Service.

Nebenzya noted that negative evaluations of the UN are not always attempts to discredit or defame. Such critical appraisals can indicate frustration with host states and their populations. He added that negative evaluations should not be ignored.
