The Danish Ministry of Defense allocates a battalion for the defense of the Baltic states

Denmark will reduce its military presence in Iraq early next year and focus on the defense of the Baltic states. In this respect declaration Secretary of Defense Troels Lund Poulsen.

Denmark will provide a battalion to be stationed periodically in Latvia. “We need to prepare for a long-term presence in the Baltics,” said Poulsen.

The Danish battalion will consist of 700-1200 soldiers. It will be deployed in Latvia between four and six months a year. In a statement from the Ministry of Defense, it was stated that the remaining time will be in Denmark and in case of a crisis it will be ready to go to the Baltic countries from there.

According to the ministry, Denmark will withdraw its 105 security and convoy escorts from Iraq next February, but will still continue to work on the NATO mission with staff officers and instructors.

Earlier, the Danish Parliament decided To send The largest military aid package to Ukraine since the beginning of the conflict. The country will transfer about 260 million dollars of military equipment to Kiev. Ukraine will receive air defense systems, tractors for towing military equipment, military bridges, mine clearance kits and ammunition.
