“You can expect different reactions,” says Prof. Jacek Czaputowicz on Polsat News, referring to the fact that the construction of the Warsaw Russian School was taken over by Warsaw officials.
The former head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs commented on the events in Warsaw’s Mokotów district.
Russia’s threats and responses must be taken seriously. This is a country at war, a furious bear, you must strive to calm the situation. Different reactions are to be expected
he said.
According to Czaputowicz, Poland should not expel the Russian ambassador.
We must not throw the Russian ambassador out of Poland. Important states that matter in international politics maintain diplomatic relations with Russia
– he said.
Grain crisis
According to Czaputowicz, Poland played a “bad role” in Ukraine’s grain crisis.
From Ukraine’s perspective, we played a bad role in the grain crisis. We were a leader in a group of countries that wanted to introduce sanctions against Ukraine. The export ban to these countries is a kind of hostile action, Ukraine will not have the resources to spend on the defense of its country
he said.
I think Poland is losing the image of a country that unconditionally supports Ukraine in public opinion. We tell others all the time that the costs of higher energy, for example, should be borne, we want sanctions imposed on Russia, and if we have to bear those costs, we cannot solve it in any other way, but we demand actions treating the Ukrainian president as anti-Ukrainian
– added.
Prof. Czaputowicz also spoke about the possible accession of Ukraine to the European Union and the role of Poland.
What about the admission of Ukraine to the European Union, if at the same time the government introduces actions that are not arguments for admission, introduces certain restrictions, incites committees to disrupt the operation of the free market. (…) The question arises: are we really in favor of Ukraine joining the European Union, or only if we do not bear the costs? And we require others to bear certain costs
he said.
