President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Speaker of the Portuguese Parliament Augusto Santos Silva. Zelensky, in a statement on his Telegram channel, said that they discussed the integration of Ukraine into the European Union and NATO.

“I met with the Speaker of the Portuguese Parliament, Augusto Santos Silva. We discussed the priority needs of the Ukrainian defenders, the cooperation towards the integration of Ukraine into the European Union and NATO. “The start of EU accession negotiations by the end of this year will be a strong incentive for the Ukrainian community,” he said.

Zelenskiy also said he hopes the Portuguese government and parliament, where he expects “decisions necessary to strengthen the capabilities of the Ukrainian defenders on the front line” will be taken.
