“PiS is stealing the EU from us in collaboration with Putin,” it sounded serious on social media. Was it written by a politician from the Platform? Or a left-wing MEP? No. Such slogans are thrown on social media by the somewhat forgotten Mateusz Kijowski, making them funny rather than serious.
On May 2, KOD had its own little holiday in Warsaw. Well, on Szaserów Street in Warsaw, a mural “CONSTITUTION” was unveiled, and Donald Tusk himself thanked the representatives of the Committee for the Defense of Democracy.

And what about the former leader of this group? Mateusz Kijowski, long unseen, is still active on social media, sharing his grotesque slogans. Example below.
“PiS is stealing the EU from us…”
The Polish radio journalist shared his thoughts on Twitter about the anniversary of Poland’s accession to the European Union.
I remember walking around with EU flags as a young boy urging people to vote “yes”. At that time, Prof. Jacek Saryusz-Wolski’s office was the center of “Union life” in Łódź. Now, years later, both he and I feel that someone is stealing our Union. our dreams

Unexpectedly, this post was answered by … a little forgotten Mateusz Kijowski.
PiS is stealing the EU from us in collaboration with Putin
– wrote the former KOD leader.
Kijowsi also did not agree with the journalist’s comment: “The word ‘steals’ in your mouth sounds significant xDDDDD”.
If you have something to say about this, please report to the public prosecutor’s office in Świdnica. If you’re just repeating other people’s lies, stop making a fool of yourself
– added the former leader of KOD.
Kiev arguments
Interestingly, this “boldness” in making accusations is not lacking, but Kijowski. He also posted his arguments about supposedly pro-Russian groups in Poland (obviously associating them with the rulers in an absurd way) on FB.
19th anniversary of Poland’s accession to the European Union. How long will we last? In 1918, Poland regained independence after 123 years of independence. In November 1938 it celebrated its 20th anniversary. She didn’t make it to her 21st birthday. (…) Russia is still actively trying to divert us from the path of development and prosperity. It is aided by strong agents placed in political parties and circles. The best thing to happen to Poland in the last few hundred years is increasingly being described by agents as a threat to sovereignty and independence. One of the parties even changed its name from “Solidarity” to “Sovereign” to reinforce its anti-Polish message (…) Even if Russian agents win the elections again, we will probably reach the twentieth anniversary of our membership of the European Union.

Billing scandal and new lawsuit
Let us remind you that the new trial on the so-called billing scandal in the Committee for the Defense of Democracy. The former head of this association, Mateusz Kijowski, accused of declaring falsehoods in invoices for IT services, may be convicted at the next hearing in June.
The former KOD leader is sitting on the quay in the Pruszków District Court for the second time in the same case. More than two and a half years ago, in September 2020, the court found Kijowski guilty of falsehood in seven invoices for IT services before the commission and sentenced him to one year in prison with a two-year suspended sentence and 5,000 fines. PLN fine. After an appeal, the District Court in Warsaw revoked the judgment and sent it back for review by the Pruszków Court. The process was restarted in December 2021.
The case of irregularities in the association’s financial accounts was considered a turning point in the history of the once-popular movement. The former KOD leader’s bills led to a crisis and marginalization of the committee.
Does Mateusz Kijowski really fail to see that such lofty slogans about Poland or accusations of Putin’s agents in his actions can only evoke a pitying smile?
