We celebrate the Day of the Flag of the Republic of Poland – a holiday full of pride. Because how could it be otherwise when it comes to white and red? And yet there was a moment when May 2 was ruled by… pink and chocolate bird. It is worth recalling how in 2013 then President Bronisław Komorowski, Radio Three led by Magdalena Jethon and “Gazeta Wyborcza” staged a grotesque event entitled “Eagle Kan”.
It had to be a happy, fun, laughing party. Instead of white and red flags, pink balloons were held in hand, and the main object of admiration was … a six-foot chocolate eagle.
Let everyone experience these symbols in their own way, then Poland and Polish symbols can be beautiful, they can be beautiful, and sometimes even tasty, and I wish that for everyone
– said Komorowski in 2013.
Here you can see that the “Eagle” can do a lot, he can even control time
said the then president.
And so the event was praised by “Gazeta Wyborcza”:
Let’s learn to be not just a nation, but a society. Let’s believe in ourselves. Let’s enjoy freedom like the French, Czechs or Americans who celebrate national holidays with their whole family in the atmosphere of a cheerful picnic. And let’s lock up our national messianism and martyrdom in the old prop room. We may never need them again.

This absurd event was attended by celebrities – journalists and actors, including Wojciech Malajkat, Marek Niedźwiecki, Piotr Metz and Maciej Damięcki.

Dude, don’t be gloomy. Spread your wings! Beak up!
– was out of the question in 2013.
But just look at the photos and videos. There is no doubt that the “Eagle may” action was the essence of kitsch in the Third Polish Republic. And they still want to teach us about patriotism?
