“These are lies that frighten the Poles. Use it in war,” said President Daniel Obajtek on the program “Gość Wiadomości,” commenting on statements by opposition politicians.
The president of PKN Orlen referred to the words of Bogusław Grabowski, who argued that state-owned companies should be privatized.
It’s totally crazy and I don’t think it’s going to happen. Then we would run a great risk and the Poles would pay much more for fuel. Why would fuel be cheaper in Poland than in Germany? Would these hundreds of millions be invested in Polish sport, would we fulfill social tasks, would the government be able to implement its economic policies through state-owned enterprises for the security of Poland? This is utopia and should never happen. But it depends on all of us
– said Daniel Obajtek.
Asked about fuel prices in Poland over the long weekend between April and May, he replied:
I don’t do weird mechanics in this regard. Today the average price of gasoline is 6.72. diesel 6.49. Within seven days we reduced diesel by PLN 0.25 and petrol by PLN 0.12. Just as prices are formed in wholesale, we translate this into detail.
President Obajtek also referred to the issue of gas prices and their rise at the beginning of the war.
During the first days of the war, the gas situation was very uncertain. These prices were very high. PGNiG itself, if it were a separate company, would not have the money to buy more gas at lower prices. Because we are connected, we certainly have other financial options
he said.
Opposition attacks
Subsequently, Daniel Obajtek commented on the actions of the opposition, which include attacks on the government over energy and fuel prices.
The opposition repeats lies very often. I recently read and saw a statement by Donald Tusk from Sosnowiec, in which he claims to have started talks with the Norwegians about the acquisition of gas and the construction of the pipeline. And now I quote Donald Tusk from 2014: “We have important Russian contracts. We know that we don’t need this Norwegian gas too much. Therefore, the Polish market is too small for Norway to invest.” Today, when he is not in power, he says something completely different, and when he was prime minister, he claimed that this gas from Norway is not needed and there is no need to build a pipeline. (…) These are lies that frighten Poles. Use in war. No political party should profit from what is happening in Ukraine
– he said.
We have the issue of Georgia and then the annexation of Crimea. Has the platform learned from this? After all, it signed oil supply contracts in 2013, in 2015. A diversification process was not taken into account. (…) We were completely dependent on the Putin regime
– added the president of PKN Orlen.
