I remember very well the discussion about the law on the defense of the fatherland. The opposition squirmed incredibly that this might be a good direction, but PiS is definitely doing everything too late. The law came into effect a year ago and effectively opened the door for the Polish army to mass armaments. It seems to me that despite the passage of time many still do not understand what these provisions are about.

Last year, more than 13,000 people joined the military. professional soldiers. To be fair, it should be added that a lot has also left (more than 8,000), but this disproportion will decrease, the dynamics of joining the army will increase. So today we have an army of 160,000 and much greater ambitions. And again I hear that everything is going too slowly. Sure, it could be faster, but does that mean you shouldn’t do anything?
What has really become clear over the past year is that the Russians are capable of any crime and that everything must be done to stop them. So talking about a strong army, an army that could defend our country on its own, is not a crazy dream. This is the direction you should follow consistently. And move as fast as possible. Don’t complain or point out that something went wrong. If so, try to draw conclusions and try to understand the real reasons for this state of affairs.
It is not known when and how the war started by the Russians will end with an invasion of their and our neighboring country. We all want it to end quickly, but above all that it means victory and the liberation of Ukraine. There is consensus on this throughout the Polish political scene. But then again, should I just talk about it? But maybe do something?

At this point it should be remembered that the law entered into force a year ago, but was drafted by Jarosław Kaczyński and in fact was ready before February 24 last year. The regulations stipulate 3%. GDP is a lot, but practice shows that more is needed and therefore expenditure this year (more than PLN 140 billion) will amount to almost 4 percent of GDP. Gross national product.
If one of the Polish politicians does not understand this, and I have the impression that they do, let them ask in Kiev whether the law is necessary for the defense of the fatherland. Not just Poland. Precisely. After all, without the unprecedented plan to strengthen the Polish army and make purchases, the effects of which are already visible in our units, we would not be able to help Ukraine. We could not send equipment to Kiev, which we consistently supplement at home with more modern equipment. These are connected vessels. It’s impossible not to understand.
