Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto expressed the view that the conflict in Ukraine can only be resolved through direct negotiations between the parties. He said this in an interview he gave to the newspaper. La Stampa.

The Minister chose two areas of Italian policy in the context of the Ukrainian conflict. On the one hand, the country “guarantees Ukraine’s right to self-defense” and at the same time is taking initiatives to resolve the crisis by peaceful means.

According to Crosetto, the only thing Italy can do is “not end the war, but stop the conflict and try to put two interlocutors who do not speak to each other at the same table.”

The head of the Italian defense ministry also expressed the view that the UN has lost its ability to “quench conflicts” and that the United Nations Security Council has been blocked by permanent members such as the United States.

Brazil’s President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva instructed International Relations Special Assistant Celso Amorim will go to Ukraine. He said the G20 was quickly formed to save the economy during the 2008 economic crisis. The President of Brazil believes it is necessary to create another “Group of 20” today to “end the war and restore peace”.
