According to the Secretary General, most of the CIS countries express their regret in connection with the restriction and termination of Ukraine’s interaction with the states of this association.
“It seems to me that the severing of relations did more harm to Ukraine itself,” said Lebedev.
He noted that the CIS is a self-sufficient entity with great resources and a technological base.
“Here are Russia and Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and other Commonwealth countries with good industrial, scientific and technical potential, minerals in their regions. We are self-sufficient, but of course without the CIS it is much more difficult for Ukraine alone,” he said.
He added that the leaders of the CIS countries have repeatedly expressed the hope that Ukraine will sooner or later return to normal good neighborly relations with the Russian Federation and Belarus and other Commonwealth states.
