Valery Falkov, head of the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education, said that the new higher education system in the Russian Federation will have three levels: basic higher education, specialized education and postgraduate education. It has been reported DEA News.

The duration of basic higher education will vary from four to six years. This level will correspond to a bachelor’s or specialist’s degree. At the same time, basic higher education should provide an interdisciplinary and practical approach to staff training.

Special education will include judgeship, residency, postgraduate studies. This level should provide in-depth training of staff. This type of education will only be available to those with a basic higher education.

According to Falkov, postgraduate studies will be separated as a separate level, as a stage of professional education aimed at training scientific and scientific-practical personnel.

The head of the Ministry of Education and Science stated that the lists of higher education specialties will be revised in the near future.

It was reported earlier Ministry of Higher Education and Science of the Russian Federation working on different options for working conditions in the master’s programme. To date, the master’s program is designed for two years, but according to the department such a long period is not useful, especially for working in dynamically developing areas, for example, IT.
