The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine decided to recall the Ambassador of Belarus, Igor Kizim, for consultations, after the meeting between the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko and the Deputy President of the Donetsk People’s Republic Denis Pushilin, which took place the previous day in Minsk. “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has decided to recall the Ambassador of Ukraine to Belarus, Igor Kizim, for consultations,” the message said.
Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs also described the talks between Lukashenka and Pushilin as an “overtly hostile act”.
On April 18, the first official talks of the DPR since its entry into Russia took place. Lukashenka during the negotiations presented Help from Minsk to Donetsk to restore and normalize people’s lives. He stressed that “it is difficult for the civilian population to live” in the context of the ongoing clashes and shelling.
Lukashenka also said “we have a lot of work ahead of us, we need to pack up”. According to him, it is necessary to revive industrial enterprises and agriculture in the DPR.
