Among the European values described on the European Union’s website, “ecology” and “equality” stand out. The former is a fight against global warming, the latter is illustrated by a rainbow flag.
Europe torn apart
Looking for specific spiritual, cultural or community values in EU messages makes sense, especially in the era of divergent intentions of European states in the face of Russia’s genocidal invasion of Ukraine. Because this is where the murderers come, rape women, steal property, destroy houses, kidnap children, and the old continent, the cradle of Western civilization, is struggling with the attitude to save Ukraine (Poland, the Baltic States), because “Ukraine has enough has armed assistance” (Germany), after focusing on America as an adversary (France).
Does the war not hinder the ecologists?
Again, but this time with devastating results, we can see how many left-liberal values are not enough to meet the challenges of modernity. People don’t want to mobilize and sacrifice themselves for a transnational entity that proposes windmills instead of coal plants, waste separation, cardboard drinking straws, but they also don’t want to identify with Europe because gay parades take place in big cities, and here and there you can have a gay wedding to have. These are not real ideas. How much their creators do not believe in it, is also shown by the fact that Russia – and in particular its invasion – harms these EU values - the war destroys the climate, nature, emits carbon dioxide, people die as a result of the decisions of a very homophobic regime, and in Europe it is difficult to find activists who for this reason chain themselves to the gates or extinguish works of art from the collection of the Morozov brothers.
What to defend in Europe?
The great values of the new Europe were hung on a stake.
This identity crisis is nothing new, but in light of the war it raises more serious questions. Would Europeans defend their country? Poor Ukrainians fight for their ‘homeland’ and ‘nation’, and would the French and Germans be in muddy trenches because they have the right to change gender and clean up their dog shit on their lawns?
Only the hopelessly naive can imagine that France fell so quickly through the sheer mechanical force of the Nazi war machine
wrote James Burnham in The Managers’ Revolution a year after Hitler took France in a single blitzkrieg. He further argued that the military
which may be enough in the long run, but not to destroy a large country with a colossal military establishment in a matter of weeks. France fell so quickly because her people had no heart for war – as every observer and noticed from the beginning of the war, even through the censorship.
In 1940, as the American philosopher, who abandoned the communist faith but did not embrace capitalism, argued, the French did not have the heart to fight in 1940 because
the ideologies they appealed to no longer had the power to move their hearts. Men are raised to be heroes, even to a very stupid ideal, but they must at least believe in that ideal.
Meanwhile, Europe’s current ideals do not convince believers themselves because they apply them so selectively, and at most they cause indifference to so many community and cultural issues. If normal people sponsored the Northern Gas Pipeline for a quarter of a century, after which the genocide seems ready to attack another country, such normal people would burn with shame and help the victims at all costs. However, Germans are not such normal people, their help is slow, dripping, insufficient, with great grace it is finally stopped and pro-Russian marches can move through the streets of Berlin. It is an unmitigated abomination to which leftist and liberal pseudo-values have led.
God, honor and country, that is, the old way
Looking at the goofy smiles of Macron or Scholz, there is nothing to be excited about to reform Europe, but in our backyard old proven values should be kept on a pedestal. If anything allows us to withstand the pressure of the European Commission, if there is something to mobilize us for the cost of expanding and maintaining the army, if we have something in common that will allow us to defend the border with Belarus and Russia, and finally, if we want to support Ukraine in the defense and win the war – at least a hybrid – with Putin, then there must be hard ideals: God, honor, fatherland, family, property, tradition, nation, graves, history, culture, not trinkets of LGBT slogans, Greenpeaces and cries of “angry wombs”. We are too far east and too despised by the European West to experiment with novelties invented by parlor animals who are jaded by life and not mature enough to meet the serious challenges of modernity.
