“Let me be absolutely clear. A war for Taiwan would be a disaster for everyone. We know there will be no real winners, and we know that maintaining the status quo is totally superior to any alternative,” he said.

The Australian Foreign Minister also said that he opposes the future of countries in the Indo-Pacific region being “dictated by a single great power”. “From my travels in the region, I understood that countries do not want to live in a closed, hierarchical region where the rules are dictated by a single great power in their own interest,” Wong said.
