Building a close, strategic alliance with the US is not just Poland’s raison d’être, but the entire European community. Thanks to this and no other location, Poland is today key to restoring EU-US relations and building a new security system, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki stressed.
The head of government visited the US this week. In the next episode of his podcast, which was published on Facebook on Sunday, Mateusz Morawiecki recalled that during his visit with US Vice President Kamala Harris, among others, he also visited the weapons factories that produce F-35 fighters and that “where Abrams tanks for our military are being made and modernized”. He noted that all his meetings in the US had one common denominator: “secure Poland’s interests in a rapidly changing world.”
Reason state
Morawiecki pointed out that the raison d’etat – not just for Poland, but for the entire European community, including Germany and France – is to build a close, strategic alliance with the US.
Unlike many politicians of the old EU and our predecessors, we have known this for a long time. That is why we are consistently and effectively striving for a greater US military presence in Poland. As a result, despite the ongoing war outside the eastern border, our country is much safer today than it was 7-8 years ago.
– he said.
We are consistently strengthening and building further economic ties with America. The recent arms contracts for state-of-the-art tanks and fighter jets are not only a matter of equipping our military with the best equipment available, but also paving the way for US investment and technology transfer. The same applies to the arms industry, nuclear energy, but also to other sectors of industry and services
summed up the prime minister.
As he noted, “today’s opportunities wouldn’t exist if we weren’t members of NATO and the EU.”
But neither would they exist if we remained passive observers, not to say “pawns” of EU policies
he noticed.
We couldn’t even think about building a strong army and the biggest arms contracts in Europe, or helping Ukraine on such a massive scale, if we hadn’t sorted out the state finances first, ended the war against the VAT mafia won and then the Polish economy or the Polish border
he continued.
Projects such as Via Baltica, Via Carpatia, Rail Baltica, CPK – Central Communication Port, gas terminals, Baltic Pipe, interconnectors with neighboring countries are not a manifestation of megalomania, but a path to our development and security
he argued.
He stressed that “the PiS government is buying new Abrams tanks, F-35 planes, Himars missile launchers and other state-of-the-art weapons systems.
We are investing huge sums in the development of the Polish defense industry, we are building the most powerful land defense in Europe
said the head of government.
Support for Ukraine
He also stressed that Poland supports Ukraine and seeks support from others, “because Ukraine’s victory is a guarantee of strengthening our military and economic strength”, and “defeat can be the beginning of the end of the West, which we are so have missed from behind the Iron Curtain.”
Morawiecki judged that “thanks to this and no other situation, Poland is today the key to restoring relations between the EU and the United States and building a new security system in Europe and in the world.”
Of course, various Western politicians have the right to express their views on Taiwan, China, the strategic autonomy of Europe, but you should know that the unity of the transatlantic world is primarily in our interest
noted Morawiecki.
