“Such important figures, as opinion makers as artists, and especially the director – he must and is expected to weigh every word. And there is no excuse for Agnieszka Holland here.” – says Michał Jach in an interview with the wPolityce.pl portal.
Member of Parliament Michał Jach referred to the publication of the weekly “Sieci” about the upcoming film by Agnieszka Holland, which could be an attack on the defenders of the Polish borders.
I have no words to describe this production. This production is a shameful thing, which shows 100 percent. for false testimony about Polish services guarding our border. This is something I couldn’t imagine. Agnieszka Holland is a person who has made many great movies and is well deserved for culture. Culture can stimulate, even provoke, but it cannot lie, it cannot serve evil. According to the knowledge I have according to the announcement, it will be a libel. Slander against Polish services, people who sacrifice their time and health under extremely difficult circumstances to serve Polish society for many hours in difficult circumstances. These people deserve the utmost respect, and this lady offers shameful slander. This is just unbelievable to me. During martial law, I had the greatest appreciation for her colleagues, for art people, actors, directors, all Polish artists who stood up as one man against the oppressive communist power, and right now these people are defending the same people who introduced martial law . law for us. They serve the interests of Belarus and Moscow, the heirs of the USSR. I didn’t think I would experience times like this. I suppose there’s pressure in that environment to create that sort of thing. I know there is pressure on those artists who do not condemn the current government, there is exclusion. We all know how performers who participate in patriotic performances, films or ceremonies are treated
– says Jach in an interview with the portal wPolityce.pl.
Responsibility of the maker
Michał Jach also draws attention to the responsibility an artist should have.
Freedom of speech is guaranteed to everyone by our constitution, even if it is a stupid and false statement. Political camps have the right to say the stupidest things within these guarantees. However, the situation here is special. If a guy yells in the street or writes all sorts of nonsense on a portal, that’s his right. The more important the figure, the more public, the more responsibility for the word is expected of him. And such important figures, as opinion-forming artists, and especially the director – he must and is expected to weigh every word. And here is no excuse for Mrs. Agnieszka Holland
– argues the PiS MP.
