They like soup kitchens for the poor, they publish pictures of breakfasts for the needy and the poor in their own organs. They beg with a ladle for their memory and gratitude. Proud of their role. And proudly address the poor.
Although these are not the 1930s of the Second Polish Republic, nor Łódź from the pen of Reymont or Warsaw Prus. And the president of the city is not Izabela Łęcka, who collected donations at the Church of St. Joseph. This is the promised land of our time. They are personally responsible for shaping it while holding offices of power. They walk with the scouts by their side, hugging in a celebratory debacle. They deliver food that does not come from their kitchen, publicly stigmatizing the victims of their politics. Waiters of scarcity, masking hypocrisy, masquerade as philanthropists.
It’s a personal masquerade. They will discount it next spring when they start counting the votes. From them they will collect food and shelter for themselves. It is no longer known who is the beggar at the Easter table, who is the master. Who gives, who asks. Who distributes soup and begs for votes, who is the creditor, who is the debtor. On the occasion of the renovation of two streets in Gdańsk, only the parade ladies could trumpet about “social revitalization”. They are not competing for electoral handouts
