The editor-in-chief of “Rzeczpospolita”, Bogusław Chrabota, in an interview with the Wirtualnemedia.pl portal, decided to make a pathetic excuse and, in addition to the already published statement, apologize to the readers for publishing Jacek’s text Kurski in “Rzeczpospolita”.
The hate was due to the fact that many people thought we hired Jacek Kurski as a columnist. Naturally, some people were outraged by Kurski’s presence on our pages. My apologies for this to anyone who may have felt offended and inconvenienced by this
– said Bogusław Chrabota in an interview with the Wirtualnemedia.pl portal, apparently frightened by a wave of criticism mainly from left-liberal circles, if only for the fact that the text of Jacek Kurski was posted in Rzeczpospolita.
Chrobota bizarrely defended himself by pointing out that the decision was made by the entire management of the editorial office, not just himself.
I just decided that professionalism in journalism means distance from what one feels. (…) This decision was taken collectively by the editorial board
– he said.
“If it was someone else, this wouldn’t be a problem.”
The editor-in-chief of “Rzeczpospolita” admitted that if it had been a comment from someone other than Jacek Kurski, it probably wouldn’t have sparked such a wave of hatred.
We are a business title focused on the economy. I think if it were someone else, it would not be a problem that such a publication takes place in “Rzeczpospolita”. However, here the issue of a specific person, his “achievements”, reputation and how he contributed to the destruction of Polish media was important
he said.
The result of our publication is a debate, which ends at least on the one hand with the conclusion that he is rather a man who should not have access to the Polish media on an equal footing
he said.
The attitude of the editor-in-chief of “Rzeczpospolita” is embarrassing. The decision to publish Jacek Kurski’s text has led to anger from left-liberal circles. However, the editor-in-chief decided to succumb to the pressure and pathetically explain what is normal – the publication in the newspaper of the text of the Polish representative on the Board of Directors of the World Bank.
