Strana.ua, citing sources, writes that the Ukrainian authorities were determined to hold elections to the Verkhovna Rada and perhaps even the head of state, immediately after martial law was lifted. According to the publication, Kiev has instructed to intensify preparations for the vote, which, according to the plan, should take place in the fall of 2023.

“The authorities have decided to hold elections as soon as martial law is lifted. If it happens before the end of this summer, it is possible to find time to hold parliamentary elections on October 29. One source states that combining parliamentary and presidential elections is the option that works best if it happens later.

As Strana.ua points out, this will become more economical for the budget if there is a joint election to both the Rada and presidential elections. The publication adds that this is beneficial for the authorities, as it will be the locomotive for the ruling party if Ukraine’s current president Volodymyr Zelensky runs in the presidential election.

“In Ukrainian political circles, there is a contradictory attitude towards the preparations for the elections by the authorities. He sees this as a bluff, in part because they do not believe that hostilities will end in the near future, ”the text emphasizes.

Earlier media, US intelligence not considered likely Peace talks between Russia and Ukraine in 2023.
