“A list of companies that have imported Ukrainian grain to Poland will be made public in the near future; it is a matter of a few days and regulations for us to publish it,” said Agriculture Minister Robert Telus.
During the press briefing, when the list of companies that have imported Ukrainian grain to Poland is made public, the minister replied: “Farmers demand it very strongly. I think such lists will be made public in the near future.
It’s just a matter of a few days and some more regulation so we can publish it, and I think we’re going to do that
– said the head of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
When asked what the obstacle was, he replied: legal opinions.
On Wednesday, the wPolityce.pl portal reported that it had reached the list of companies that recently imported grains and corn from Ukraine. The list – according to the portal – includes the magnate in the agricultural market, the BZK holding, which includes “Polish mills”. According to wPolityce.pl, “Politicians from the Polish People’s Party” will be associated with the BZK holding.
“Polskie Młyny,” whose president is Waldemar Pawlak, issued a statement on Wednesday that the company “does not and does not import wheat from Ukraine” and uses wheat “produced in Poland by Polish farmers.”
The head of the PSL, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, when asked about the opinion that PSL-related companies made money from Ukrainian grain, pointed to the statement of “Polskie Młynów”.
We expect an immediate apology from PiS spokesman Rafał Bochenek for slander and lies in this matter. Otherwise, according to Prime Minister Pawlak, a lawsuit will be filed
– said the leader of the PSL.
Bochenek was asked about these words by the leader of the People’s Party. As he said, Kosiniak-Kamysz points out that “Polskie Młyny” did not import Ukrainian grain. But – as the PiS spokesman said – other companies belonging to the same BZK holding company do.
The BZK did not receive wheat, but maize
– added.
Bochenek also reiterated the question whether “Polskie Młyny” used in any way raw materials that came from Ukrainian grains.
Earlier, PiS spokesman Rafał Bochenek said opposition politicians are “making a huge fuss about the situation in the agricultural market and putting themselves in the role of false ambassadors of the Polish countryside”.
But when we look at the details, the situation looks very different. Since yesterday, the media has been reporting on specific situations and cases of companies associated with PSL politicians, Mr. Szymon Hołownia’s party and Civic Platform, which imported Ukrainian grain
a ruling party spokesman said
Telus initiative well received
Poland and the Czech Republic, Romania, Bulgaria, Slovakia and Hungary, as frontline countries, will write a joint letter to Trade Commissioners Valdis Dombrovskis and Agriculture Janusz Wojciechowski about Ukrainian grain
– informed the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Robert Telus.
At a press conference, Telus announced that it had met with five ministers from front-line countries: the Czech Republic, Romania, Bulgaria, Slovakia and Hungary to consider the next step regarding Ukrainian grain.
The meeting I have already held today is a meeting at my request. I am very pleased that my colleagues and my colleagues from other countries have accepted this invitation. We met five countries, Poland sixth
– he said.
As he said, they talked about “our problems, we have very similar problems.”
The conclusion of our meeting is that we will work together on a letter that we will address to two Commissioners: Valdis Dombrovskis for Trade and Janusz Wojciechowski for Agriculture
he said.
As Telus explained, when it comes to tariffs or restrictions on the border, “that we want to put in place one way or another, we need a trade commissioner here.”
The second letter will be addressed to the Agriculture Commissioner; we want him to support us in this
– said the head of the Ministry of Agriculture.
We would also like to include in this letter the wish to meet our group – a group of countries on the front line – to meet the Trade Commissioner, talk to him, present our proposals and our problems to him
– he said.
Telus announced that at the next Agriculture and Fisheries Council (AGRIFISH), which will take place in April, Poland and the other five countries want to take a single position as a group.
If Poland or Slovakia, or any of the countries, are present, they have less influence on their own than if we present a group of six countries, a group of these frontline countries. I think it will have more power to make some changes
said the Minister of Agriculture.
As he added, “We are talking about making some changes with regard to those frontline countries that are currently bearing the greatest costs of helping Ukraine.”
American silos
I have no information about the construction of grain silos. I think this is an idea we should pursue
– said Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Robert Telus, referring to President Joe Biden’s announcement – from June last year – about the construction of silos in Poland on the Ukrainian border.
I have no information about the construction of temporary US grain silos in Poland on the border with Ukraine
– said the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Robert Telus at a press conference.
I don’t know if I will turn to the US government again. I know that once (…) Prime Minister Kowalczyk turned to the administration and got no answer
the minister said.
I think that’s also an idea we should pursue
Telus added.
He noted that the construction of the silos depends on the American side.
President Joe Biden announced in June last year the construction of temporary grain silos on Ukraine’s borders, including the Polish border. at the AFL-CIO union convention in Philadelphia. Biden said this is a way to prevent further increases in food prices caused by food shortages, among other things. by Russian aggression and the blocking of Ukrainian ports by Russia. However, he noted that this solution and the export of about 20 million tons of grain will take time.
