“The opposition lures with a four-day work week. But the Senate went even further! He introduced a whole month without work. There is no meeting in April. The reason is surprising – there is nothing to work on – reports “Fact”.
The newspaper notes that the Senate, where the opposition currently has a majority, will not meet once this month for a plenary session. “Fact” reports that senators “rest and earn well”, indicating, among other things, on the presidium of the upper chamber, which should earn about PLN 20,000 per month.
The last session of the Senate took place at the end of March. the next one is scheduled for May 10-11. Only three committee meetings are scheduled for this week. This means that senators now have practically 24 days off (excluding Saturdays, Sundays and holidays)
– announces “Fact”.
All done?
The editors of the newspaper indicate that this is the first time in this term of office that such a situation has arisen. Until now, the Senate met two or three times a month, including remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic, and this year the Senate has only had 10 meetings.
We had no laws to deal with now. We also had no initiatives of our own, because we submitted them all to the Sejm. Among the latter were provisions on additional support for village chiefs
– explains Krzysztof Kwiatkowski, independent senator, who is also the head of the legislative committee.
According to the Senate Information Center, “The lack of a Senate plenary session doesn’t mean there isn’t going on in the Senate.” Therefore, the Senate committees must continue to work and continue, and conferences and meetings with the participation of senators will be organized.
Senators, as they admit, have nothing to do, because they have already sent all their initiatives to the Sejm. This is interesting insofar as the opposition rumbles that it already has the famous “drawers full of laws” ready. Apparently, however, the drawers close easily when the Senate, led by Tomasz Grodzki, has nothing to do. So we are dealing with a legislative sham or the opposition is simply afraid to come up with concrete program proposals before the parliamentary elections.
