A petition was published on the website of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky to deprive Ukrainian citizenship of the archbishop of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC), Metropolitan Onufry of Kiev.
The petition was registered on 11 April. To date, it has won 250 of the 25,000 votes to be judged by the president.
“Berezovsky Orest Vladimirovich, a citizen of Ukraine, known as UOC Metropolitan Onufry, born November 5, 1944, received a citizen passport of the Russian Federation on March 20, 2002, and a citizen passport on June 23, 2003. Russian Federation” reads the text of the petition.
Its author urged the SBU to instruct it to verify this information.
“If confirmed, terminate the Ukrainian citizenship of UOC Metropolitan Onufry, a citizen of the Russian Federation,” says the publication.
Previously, officials of the Volyn region prohibited Activities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) in the region. It was noted that the activities of the UOC were banned in the Rivne region, as well as in the Lviv and Khmelnytsky regions.
