“There is always hope. I will never lose her,” said Elżbieta Witek in a sincere and very personal interview for “Super Express”, talking about her ailing husband. The Marshal of the Sejm also refutes the allegations that appeared after the publication of Radio Zet. centers that could intensively rehabilitate a patient like my husband, but then he would have to be on his own breathing, not on a ventilator. I would give anything to not have to be there, to be able to breathe on my own. I’m waiting for the day I hear from the doctor that I can get him out of ICU,” she said.
“There is always hope. I will never lose her again”
The first weeks after the heart attack, my husband died every day. He was in incredible pain. However, my husband has a unique will to live. After three months, both me and the hospital were looking for a suitable place to move him, train his brain, wake him up. There were centers that could intensively rehabilitate a patient like my husband, but then he would have to be on his own ventilator, not on a ventilator. I would give anything to not have to be there, to be able to breathe on my own. I’m waiting for the day I hear from the doctor that I can take him out of ICU
– said Elżbieta Witek in an interview with “SE”. As she stressed, “there is still hope. I will never lose her.”
I never asked for special treatment. Like 9 years ago, I sat next to my husband’s bed, held his hand, talked to him, not knowing if he heard me, prayed, but I did not demand anything, I did not ask for anything. I was one of those people who had their loved ones in the hospital in a serious condition and only thought about him surviving
she added.
The man is in a normal room with other patients, he is treated like others. Great doctors and nurses approach each patient with the same dedication and empathy. There has never been a discussion about this with the doctors or with anyone from the management of the hospital
she assured.
The Marshal of the Sejm, assailed with accusations, insisted that she “never used the positions she held”.
I don’t need anything more, that’s possible. I am 65 years old and have had many difficult experiences. I live in the same apartment building for more than 30 years, on the fourth floor with no elevator, I am not a rich person, if I can, I always help people who ask for such help. I’ve been doing this all my adult life. I didn’t use my position to get anything for myself. I am still the same Elżbieta Witek, who was a teacher, school principal, spokesman, pastor and now marshal. Those who know me know that very well. I didn’t think of myself as a better person to be entitled to privileges
– she said.
There was even a question of moving my husband to a clinic in Warsaw. I did not want to. Our hospital is here. I have complete confidence in the doctors and nurses, and my husband is a patient here like everyone else
she added.
Some say that a patient who lives so long after such problems is a miracle, it hardly happens. I am a believer, I believe in miracles. I search everywhere, I ask, I consult my husband’s case
she also said.
“We touched on very delicate, even intimate matters.”
The Marshal of the Sejm was also asked why Radio Zet journalists claim she did not answer their questions, although she herself wrote in her statement that there was a conversation.
The day before the meeting I received questions. Then it turned out that one of these gentlemen wanted to meet me from October. I had no such information. If there were questions, I responded immediately and we made an appointment for the next day. We touched very delicate, even intimate matters
Witek explained.
I also talked about details that are not suitable for printing. The gentlemen did have a complete picture of the situation and I answered all the questions they asked me, but this is largely a medical secret, so this information cannot be made public. I thought journalists would understand the context that I’m not keeping my husband there because it’s convenient for me, because it’s not.
she said.
