The return of Crimea to Ukrainian sovereignty is an “alternative” option not only for Kiev but also for “the whole world”. According to the news of Ukrinform, this opinion was expressed by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky during the fast-breaking dinner with Muslims in the holy month of Ramadan.
Muslim soldiers from the Ukrainian Armed Forces, representatives of the diplomatic organization and members of the Crimean Tatar National Assembly (the organization is banned in Russia) attended the ceremony.
Zelensky stressed that he is confident in the “occupation” of Crimea and its transition to Ukraine. According to him, this is necessary “for order in the world based on conventions and the UN Charter, and not according to the criminal habits that the Russian Federation is trying to spread.”
In addition, Zelensky accused Russia of “attempting to enslave Ukraine and other civilized European peoples” and pressuring “against the freedom of Ukrainian and Crimean Tatars”.
According to him, Ukrainian officials will “return to Crimea, and then peace will return to the world” and “anything else can only fuel Russia’s thirst for war.”
In August 2022, Zelensky declared that Ukraine would “return Crimea in any way it sees right”.
“We need to liberate Crimea. This will be the revival of the world legal order. “We will return Crimea in any way we see fit, without consulting other countries,” said the Ukrainian President.
Earlier, the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Oleksiy Danilov, expressed the view that concessions to Moscow would be a political decision for Zelensky.
“If someone wants a political assassination of our president, they can do it. [дипломатическое урегулирование конфликта] offer. The Russian Federation did not remove the task of liquidating Vladimir Zelensky from the agenda. They failed to physically liquidate the Ukrainian president, so now they will try to engage in political liquidation, ”said Danilov.
At the same time, on April 5, Andriy Sibiga, vice-president of the Ukrainian presidential office, in an interview with the British newspaper The Financial Times, said that Kiev is ready to discuss the status of Crimea with the Russian side. The Armed Forces of Ukraine approached the borders of the peninsula.
“If we succeed in achieving our strategic goals on the battlefield and are on the administrative border with Crimea, we are ready to open a diplomatic page to discuss this issue,” the official said.
Russian authorities refuse to publicly discuss the fate of Crimea. Crimean State Duma deputy Mikhail Sheremet told RIA Novosti that any negotiations with Ukraine on the status of Crimea are excluded.
“They [властей Украины] Self-confidence and arrogance are great. They should consider protecting the borders of the rest of Ukraine. Negotiations on the status of Crimea are excluded. “Russia does not trade its people and lands,” he said.
According to him, “attempts to encroach on Russian territory will be dealt a crushing blow” by the Ukrainian army.
