Any food transport entering Poland will be examined not only for the standards in force, but also for its impact on the agricultural market and economy, Agriculture Minister Robert Telus said on Friday. He notes that this includes poultry meat and eggs.
In an interview with Polsat News, the head of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development indicated that during Friday’s meeting with the Minister of Agricultural Policy and Food of Ukraine Mykola Solski, he announced inspections of food entering Poland.
Every shipment that enters Poland, for example of poultry meat or eggs, is examined
– he said.
It is very important to us that products that could harm the health of Poland, but also our farmers, our economy, do not arrive.
– added.
Purchase excess grain
He also indicated that the purchase of surplus grain will start next week. He said he had already met with the presidents of the companies that will make such a purchase.
The companies are working hard to make this happen. At the moment there are negotiations going on but I think it will definitely be a higher price than it is currently on the market
Telus said.
When asked whether the list of companies that imported Ukrainian grain should be made public and – contrary to the announcements – did not export it abroad, Telus said that “Polish people deserve to know who brought such grain to Poland” .
On the other hand, when asked about the high five for animals he admitted that “this vote was a political mistake”.
On Thursday, a few hours after his appointment as head of the ministry, the new Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Robert Telus, announced the convening of a crisis team for products coming to Poland from Ukraine and staying with us. On Friday morning, he met with the Minister of Agriculture and Food of Ukraine, Mykola Solski. It was agreed that the transit of grain from Ukraine through Poland “will be very closely monitored by both the Polish and Ukrainian sides, so that the grain does not remain in Poland”.
