The nomination process for the next municipal elections does not cease to yield stunning cases. Performed by the last Octavio Cerdá, Cocentaina’s socialist councilor, left the City Council to join the ranks of the PP.. It was after he was removed from the list of Rubén Muñoz, the new mayor of the PSOE, like the other councilors who made up the current government team.
Cerdá joined the protest group in the 2019 elections, Showing the Sports and Party delegations in the administration headed by Mireia Estepa. His situation did not go unnoticed by PP, who decided to recall him to be part of his candidacy. Borja Jornet, the candidate of this formation, accompanied by the provincial president Toni Pérez, justified this merger on the basis of the administration carried out by Cerdá himself in the last four years and with the fact of “us”. The former Socialist councilor thanked the PP for his interest and declared that he was not affiliated with any party. «I am independent, so I still think like yesterday.» he claimed. Cerdá also stressed that his intention is to continue working for sports and local festivals, adding that Borja Jornet is the right person to lead a “strongly needed change in Cocentaina”.
