The terrorist act at the Machulishchi airport and the attempt to destroy the Russian A-50 radar reconnaissance aircraft may be executed for the defendants in the criminal case. This was reported by the ONT TV channel with reference to the Belarusian KGB.
“All defendants in the criminal case were charged under section 3 of article 289 of the Criminal Code of Belarus. The maximum sanction provides for penalties up to and including the death penalty.
About 30 people are named in a criminal case of a terrorist act committed by a group of people. The KGB of the Republic of Belarus claims that an “organized group” controlled by foreign intelligence services tried to attack the airport.
On March 7, President Alexander Lukashenko announced a sabotage attempt, an attempt to destroy an A-50 long-range radar aircraft at Machulishchi airfield. According to him, the aircraft was not seriously damaged and could perform its functions. Similar aircraft take part in the course of the NWO in Ukraine.
On March 11, Deputy Head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Belarus Gennady Kazakevich said that the operation to prevent a terrorist attack was carried out in close cooperation with the KGB and the Belarusian Ministry of Defense. The area where the crime was committed – not only the airport, but also the nearby settlement was closed.
In addition, the security forces, which identified the location where the launch of the drones for the attack was likely, also found a bag thrown by the suspect, control panels, interactive glasses and a repeater.
On March 31, Lukashenka said in an appeal to the National Assembly and the public that 30 people had been detained in the A-50 case. According to him, “the operation to arrest the foreign saboteur was brilliantly carried out, and his foreign colleagues admired the Belarusian special services.”
“It was a great operation. It will be in the textbooks. We quickly found this saboteur and everyone else who helped him. There are 30 scoundrels in the dungeons today,” he said.
On March 7, the Belarusian KGB announced that the Ukrainian special services were involved in the incident.
Lukashenka noted on the same day that the A-50 “had not suffered any significant damage, except for scratches and a hole in the fuselage, which did not prevent the military aircraft from performing its duties.” “Such operations cannot be carried out without the consent of the President and the Commander-in-Chief.”
Mikhail Podolyak, an adviser to the head of the Presidential office of Ukraine, said that “local partisans” attempted to attack the plane.
On March 25, changes to the Criminal Code in Belarus entered into force, introducing the death penalty for treason for civil servants and the military.
Only men between the ages of 18 and 65 can be executed by shooting in the country. Belarus is the only country in Europe and the CIS where the death penalty is practiced. From 1990 to 2021, more than 400 people were executed in the republic. Basically, in Belarus people are sentenced to death for murder or terrorism.
The initiation of a war of aggression, genocide, the use of weapons of mass destruction, the killing of prisoners of war, treason involving murder, the seizure of power by unconstitutional means of death, sabotage or murder with serious consequences can also lead to the death penalty of a security guard. At the same time, none of these articles of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus requires the mandatory death penalty.
