Since the beginning of the Russian aggression against Ukraine, Polish farmers have received PLN 5 billion in aid thanks to my actions. I did my job not 100% but 200%. – said EU Agriculture Commissioner Janusz Wojciechowski in an interview for Rzeczpospolita on Tuesday.
Wojciechowski’s resignation?
In an interview published on Tuesday with “Rzeczpospolita”, the EU Commissioner for Agriculture was asked, among other things, if he would resign.
Why would I do that? Since the beginning of the Russian aggression against Ukraine, Polish farmers have received PLN 5 billion in aid thanks to my actions
– suggested Janusz Wojciechowski.
It was first aid in subsidizing fertilizers. On my initiative in the European Commission, agriculture was brought into the state aid system because the framework was quite wide open. There was a great struggle to involve the farmers as well
he noticed.
Manure aid on an ‘unprecedented scale’
He pointed out that this allowed Poland to provide fertilizer support on an “unprecedented scale – it was EUR 836 million”.
No other country has done this, has not been allowed to do this. And now grain support – 126 million euros, that is 600 million PLN – for subsidies on grain prices. In addition, I ensured that the crisis reserve for farmers was used twice
emphasized Wojciechowski.
For the first time in history, the EU has activated the so-called agricultural crisis reserve. Poland first received 44 million euros from it – it was support for apple growers and pig breeders. Then – these are the last days – EUR 56 million for three countries in the Union. Poland received almost EUR 30 million for this, with the possibility of double funding, ie from national funds
– said the EU Commissioner for Agriculture in an interview with Rzeczpospolita.
“I did my job 200 percent.”
He also announced that the next tranche of aid is being prepared and “probably will be for five countries: Poland, Romania, Hungary, Bulgaria and Slovakia.”
From this pool, according to the method I proposed, Poland would most likely receive another EUR 32 million, also with the possibility of double funding. This is unprecedented help
he assessed.
I did my job not 100% but 200%. I got more than I thought possible at the beginning of this whole crisis. Poland was the first to have an approved national strategic plan for the common agricultural policy. She was one of seven countries with the first approved plan
said the commissioner.
25 billion euros for five years for Polish farmers – within the framework of the normal common agricultural policy. Another 2.3 billion euros for farmers in KPO – sooner or later these funds will reach Poland. So while I shouldn’t be judged here, my actions have been great
– said Janusz Wojciechowski.
