The government support program for more than 500 families proved to be a great success. It helped millions of parents deal with the costs of raising children, and for many social groups it meant breaking the vicious circle of lack of money for education or leisure. Now, in an election year, there is discussion whether the program should be financially updated; after all, inflation has meant that the money that families receive is actually lower than what they received in 2016. The government has not yet taken a position on this.

According to the workshop study Social changesby order of the portal wPolityce.plPoles have rather mixed feelings about the possible revaluation of 500+.
opinion 22 percent – believes that 500+ should be increased by the inflation amount of recent years.
In opinion 21 percent – the withdrawn amount must remain unchanged.
28 percent of respondents believe that the program should be completely abolished.
9 percent supports an increase in paid support of 100%, ie up to PLN 1,000 per month per child.
Chose the answer “hard to say”. 20 per cent investigated.
The details of the investigation hardly come as a surprise. PiS voters are dominated by those in favor of raising 500+ through inflation (42 percent), and among Civic Coalition voters, supporters of the program’s liquidation (35 percent).
The government awaits difficult decisions. Certainly, raising the benefit level would help many families struggling today with Putin inflation.

The research was conducted using the CAWI method (Computer Assisted Web Interview) from March 24 to 27, 2023, on an online panel, on a nationwide, representative (in terms of: gender, age, size of residence) sample of Poland . N=1047 people participated in the study.
