Those who want the return of a fair, democratic Poland and a decent government should stop hurting each other and properly define the opponent, PO Donald Tusk stated Monday in Chełmno (Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship). We must win these elections, he said.
During the meeting with the inhabitants of Chełmno, the head of the PO encouraged that “anyone who sympathizes with one democratic party should not attack the other”. “I know that some people wanted us to go to the polls together, some made a different choice. Even if we don’t think they got it right, let’s restore solidarity and respect around the values and ideas that unite us,” Tusk said.
At least let’s try to make an emotional, positive, respectful – well, I won’t say love, because there’s a limited amount of space in the heart and one can’t love everyone, but that we try to be good define where the opponent is, and even about some today I would say an enemy, because I have no doubt that some politicians are dangerous from the point of view of the fundamental interests of Poland and its security
he appealed.
He added that “you have to stand firm, feel completely comfortable, strike accurately and hard, to protect Poland from these people.”
On the other hand, when it comes to those circles that are better, smarter, worse, but want a truly democratic Poland and a fair, decent government, we must stop hurting each other, teasing each other and form one team, regardless these lists and animosities. That’s what I’m asking for
he stressed.
In the context of grain shipments from Ukraine, its control and destination, he stated that “it turned out, how many times during these governments, that it was not profitable for someone to do the work that meant grain reaching third countries, transported by Poland”. He added that in his view it was “not just laziness, but also business”.
There is something nasty about (…) that someone earns money from misery, poverty, dramas of, for example, Polish farmers. (…) Grain is cheap, but flour is the most expensive, (…) bread is the most expensive. Gasoline is the most expensive ever. Orlen’s profits are the highest in history. You’d have to be blind not to see these gruesome relationships
– said the head of the PO.
He stated that it was clear that the current authorities would be held accountable. “There will be an independent public prosecutor’s office and an independent judge for hard, criminal cases, because there is no shortage of criminal offenses because of this authority. And if I influence what happens in Poland, I will make sure that no politician puts his hands in the work of the courts and the prosecutor’s office,” he assured.
They have done so much harm and are so blatantly obvious that the public prosecutor’s office and the courts need not make a special effort to hold accountable those who have caused accidents in Poland. It is much more important to me that this horrible chain of financial misery comes to an end
Tusk added.
Do you want Poland not to become as expensive as it is? Do you want the strength not to steal from you in such an open way? Then vote for someone else, not those in power today
he called.
Tusk was also asked, among other things, how to counter the risk of electoral fraud. The chairman of the Platform indicated that civilian supervision of their course is important.
I am convinced that in the autumn we will be ready for a major campaign of social control in elections and that there will be trustees and trust ladies in every polling station, not one person, not two
he noticed.
He encouraged anyone who has spare time and wants to get involved in this way to seek contract with suitable entities, for example Civic Coalition offices or organizations.
It is known that this election, like the last presidential election, will not be fair. (…) Elections are free – anyone can stand as a candidate and anyone can vote, but (…) the authorities use state funds, control the public media, the authorities even use secret services (…)
he said.
He also appealed to “get out of your head thinking that they will effectively steal our elections because it really depends decisively on us”.
We must win these elections, that is the assignment
– emphasized the leader of the PO.
At the meeting, Tusk was also asked, among other things, about Monday’s statement by Leszek Balcerowicz, who called him a populist. In Radio Zet, the former deputy prime minister, finance minister and president of the National Bank of Poland also stated that “the economic program of the Hołownia Party is less populist than the current program of the PO”. From a partisan point of view, he viewed the strategy of competing with PiS on promises as poor.
The head of PO noted that “Balcerowicz plays the role of a very insightful critic of many things and situations.”
No one will convince me to respond unkindly to Leszek Balcerowicz. (…) We play different social roles. (…) I took on a task or part of a task (…) to win the election. During this campaign I want to say in a responsible way what people will benefit from it. And I do it responsibly
he said.
Balcerowicz was – in his own words – annoyed by ‘grandmother’. “It is not my role to teach numbers to Leszek Balcerowicz. This is the exact opposite philosophy from that of PiS. (…) The woman receives support from the state in the amount of PLN 1,500 to pay for childcare and return to the labor market,” he said. He gave as an example that a woman earns 5,000 gross, then only in the form of premiums and taxes will be given more than 1.5 thousand.
Here no one gives anything to anyone, we just go back to logical thinking – prosperity and money come from work, not from reaching out and giving away
– emphasized the leader of PO, who was rewarded with applause.
The head of the PO was also asked if it “will reverse the climate package”.
I believe there is no way back to the essence of the matter, but not because someone is forcing something on us, but because when you talk to a twenty-year-old, an eighteen-year-old, and I had a In many of these conversations, they look at us with resentment that we didn’t offer them a safe perspective
Tusk said.
He added that “you have to realize that this is not an extravagance of the Greens, that these are not inventions – you can argue, but it is not our role, what actions can slow down the climate catastrophe, mitigate its effects.”
Tusk noted that one thing seems clear to him: everyone needs to prepare for it. He stressed that it is necessary to take care of the climate and the environment in a reasonable, non-radical way, so that everyone is convinced.
I would like to live in a cleaner Poland than it is now, and I am not speaking figuratively
– said the head of the PO.
Stories about the yeast
If the opposition takes power, Poland will not be among the three worst European countries in terms of high prices in the middle of the next term, but among the 4-5 best performers – said PO Donald Tusk in Chełmno on Monday.
At the meeting with the inhabitants of Chełmno, the head of the PO was asked, among other things: about agricultural issues – including Ukrainian grain, which went to Poland.
With the answer to the question of who and how will be responsible for the grain scandal (…) I will wait until we have basic data
noted Tusk.
He pointed out that the opposition usually receives such data from the authorities sooner or later and then, in his opinion, it will be clear who and what decisions have been made in this regard.
He emphasized that last June he already called for this subject to be dealt with professionally in consultation with partners from the European Union. He pointed out that at the time he was accused of inciting anti-Ukrainian sentiment. He called it a completely absurd claim.
It turned out, how many times during these governments, it was profitable for someone to prevent this grain from reaching third countries – transported through Poland
Tusk said.
He also said that it is necessary to clarify the relationship in which farmers eg fertilizers at record prices, and the fact that at that time the profits of state-owned companies were also at record levels.
It is extremely important to me that this chain of financial misery comes to an end. I am absolutely convinced that by mid-term, if the opposition comes to power, Poland will not be among the three worst European countries in terms of high prices, but among the top 4-5
explained Tusk.
He also said that on his way to the meeting in Chełmno he read “it sounds so joking, what is the egg index”. As he explained, “Every year before Easter, data is published on how much eggs cost compared to Polish men’s and women’s wages and this index, a bit in the Christmas spirit, tells what really happens with our real earnings.”
In just one year, the Polish family, their money power, fell by 23 percent. based on this egg index – 23 percent. we will buy fewer eggs in this one year. We compare the previous holidays with this holiday
he noticed.
Tusk added that “the feeling that high prices are immeasurable and statements that someone is to blame for this Polish inflation and high prices do not hold together when we compare Polish inflation and Polish high prices with most EU countries.”
During the meeting, the chairman of the PO was asked, among other things: about the problems of photovoltaic farms.
Tusk agreed with the questioner’s diagnosis that it cannot be the case that they were placed in every possible place – irreversibly changing the landscape of the Polish countryside. According to the leader of the PO, several arguments should be reconciled in this matter, in order to allow the development of renewable energy sources, but not at the expense of the landscape, the environment, the immediate surroundings of ordinary Poles.
It’s not about wanting green energy to open up this space without any control – aesthetically either
Tusk said.
The PO chairman was also asked about the pensions of former uniformed officers. Tusk said – as at previous rallies he attended – that he does not like the regulations put in place by Law and Justice in this area.
There can be no collective responsibility
he pointed it out.
He stressed that Tomasz Siemoniak, former head of the Ministry of National Defense, is already making changes in this matter.
The intent of this law – called by some repressive – was to limit the privileges of those who diligently served the PRL, the security apparatus. This later became a very common assumption, and it ended up hurting people who had nothing to do with a repressive device.
– reviewed current regulations Tusk.
Apparently, Donald Tusk is beginning to realize that his tour of Poland is not yielding the expected results. Maybe that’s why he’s trying to warm things up.
