“There is no chemistry between Donald Tusk and Rafał Trzaskowski, there is no cooperation and there is a battle for leadership in the PO. Today, Donald Tusk is losing support in his own party. Through his countless unfortunate statements, disagreements and lies that the Internet users themselves point out to him, and especially when they abandon him and abuse the meeting participants, he starts the back office of his own party, which the Trzaskowski faction wants to use. It’s nothing more than a bulldog fight under the rug. Weak Tusk, dips in polls, all this could lead to a replacement of the PO leader. The method for ‘Kidawa 2.0,’” said Rafał Bochenek, Member of Parliament, PiS spokesperson, in an interview with the wPolityce.pl portal.
wPolityce.pl: You announced an information campaign about the “real PO program”, referring to Rafał Trzaskowski’s activities in the capital. What exactly should this promotion look like, in what form?**
During meetings with Poland in the individual regions, we will inform about the current PO programme. This is not the tune of the future, because it is already happening in Warsaw: narrower streets, liquidated parking garages, traffic-free zones, or the PO lobby for the abolition of combustion vehicles for expensive electrical appliances. Of course, the element related to Rafał Trzaskowski’s leftist policies, which he wants to implement in Warsaw and in the future in Poland, is part of this PO programme. We will also systematically remind you of the decisions made in the PO environment, for example in the context of interest rate hikes. Three Senate representatives on the Monetary Policy Council, representing PO, are calling for a radical rate hike. Without the resistance of other MPC members, these rates would likely be much higher than they are today. Ms. Joanna Tyrowicz, representing the PO in the MPC, communicated directly that they should be above the inflation level. Today we have interest rates of 6.75 percent, and Mrs. Tyrowicz wants them to be 19-20 percent, above the rate of inflation. It is well known what catastrophic impact this would have on Poland’s household budgets, many households that have loans or credit, as well as companies that have taken loans for their current activities. The result of such decisions would be a massive 400-500 percent increase in loan repayments, mass bankruptcies, corporate bankruptcies, and thus job losses and unemployment. Many consultants and PO politicians, such as Mr. Belka or Mr. Lewandowski, suggest that raising taxes is an effective way to fight inflation and that social programs should be cut. That such a policy is likely to be pursued by the opposition is also evident from the recent statement by Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz, who said that money for social programs is used to fund “social margins”. PO is a party of the elite, not interested in the problems of ordinary people.
Will your action consist only of informing about all this during meetings with voters, or will it also take other forms, for example a billboard campaign?
There will certainly be a broad online campaign and in other media we will want to reach the Poles through different channels. We also already have the first billboard in Warsaw, which recalls Rafał Trzaskowski’s election plans and the restrictions he declares he will introduce on eating meals, using a maximum of 8 pieces of clothing per year or eliminating vehicles with combustion engine.
However, the PO has now started making some election promises, for example, it is “grandmothers”.
The promises of the PO deviate from what they do. Recently, Donald Tusk talked about “grandmothers”, and a few days later Grzegorz Schetyna summed it up in one of the television programs, saying that there will be no more social programs because there is no money for them. They do not agree with each other, there is no cohesion and no unambiguous vision. In addition, today they have the problem of agreeing on one list, let alone governing and making decisions together, whether on social, economic or military matters. Poles cannot waste time in such opposition fighting and constant chaos.
Some time ago, a text appeared on the Onet portal, based on anonymous informants, stating that PiS would “deploy the heaviest weapons” against Rafał Trzaskowski to eventually replace him as president of the capital with a government commissioner. Are you preparing such a plan?
This article is most likely a result of an internal strife within the PO. It has long been known that the PO is cracking on the foundations. There is no chemistry between Donald Tusk and Rafał Trzaskowski, there is no cooperation and there is a battle for leadership in the PO. It’s nothing more than a bulldog fight under the carpet. Weak Tusk, dips in polls, all this could lead to a replacement of the PO leader. The method for “Kidawa 2.0”. At first everyone denied that it was not true, and when it came to humiliating the woman, they sent her alone to the conference and switched presidential candidates without batting an eyelid. Things have clearly not been going well for some time with Donald Tusk.
A text has just appeared in “Gazeta Wyborcza” which somewhat refers to this subject. Based on anonymous comments from PO politicians, it shows that Rafał Trzaskowski could enter the PO campaign vigorously if the poll trend, which is unfavorable to him, does not improve in the coming weeks. For now, Donald Tusk is the main face of the PO campaign.
This agrees with what I said. Observing the politics and seeing what the situation in the PO looks like, that’s how it can be judged. Trzaskowski and the faction of young wolves will want to take the initiative, which will de facto prove Tusk’s marginalization.
The head of the PiS caucus, Ryszard Terlecki, said in an interview with “Sieci” that there are people in every opposition party who want to work with PiS in the next Sejm. Could this be PiS’s way of staying in power after the next election?
Now that we focus mainly on our own activities, we want to consolidate the broadest possible political camp that goes to the elections together. All decisions regarding our lists and how detailed they will appear depend on PiS leadership, as well as potential partners, whether they express their willingness to work with us. It takes two to tango, but let’s be optimistic.
