“Today is the great St. John Paul II – a monument, a great figure,” said President Andrzej Duda in the program “Gość Wiadomości”.
The President of the Republic of Poland spoke about the importance of the figure of St. John Paul II.
He was an extraordinary man and a great figure in my life. If a generation is called the “JP2 generation”, it is definitely my generation – people who remember the Holy Father from childhood, for whom he was always there until his passing. And today is the great St. John Paul II – a monument, a great figure, and his message is simply alive
– he said.
On the one hand, I see him as a great man, a great priest (…) who remains in an extraordinary relationship with God. (…) A great priest, a great spiritual leader. But on the other hand, a great politician, super tough, who never forgot his homeland
– added.
A unique photo
Then President Andrzej Duda presented a joint photo of St. John Paul II with Ronald Reagan.
This is the photo that accompanies me as a politician. There are two men in this photo. An extremely powerful. It’s the one in the dark suit (Ronald Reagan) and the one in white – the big one. Two people thanks to whom I am absolutely convinced that we have regained our freedom
said the chairman.
This is his greatest contribution to Poland. (…) The fact that we managed to regain freedom in 1989
– added.
