According to the agency, Russian Minister of Justice Konstantin Chuichenko arrived in Bali on March 31 to attend the signing ceremony of this agreement with his Indonesian counterpart, Yasonna Laoli. The agency explains that the extradition agreement is a continuation of the cooperation in the field of mutual legal aid, which Indonesia and Russia agreed on in 2019.

“The now agreed agreement was scheduled to be signed during Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit to Indonesia, but this did not happen due to the coronavirus pandemic. We’ve been waiting and now it’s time,” added Laoli.

According to him, the agreement will come into effect only after Indonesia ratifies it as law.

In addition, Antara stated that after the signing of the extradition agreement, it plans to sign a memorandum of understanding on cooperation between countries in the field of cyber security and legal aid in civil cases.
