“Senator Jan Filip Libicki’s entry on the victims of pedophilia in the church was outrageous and should not have taken place – the leader of Poland 2050 Szymon Hołownia ruled in an interview with “Super Express”. When asked if he could be on one electoral list with Libicki, he admitted that “he will have very serious objections”.
PSL-KP Senator Jan Filip Libicki posted a message on Twitter referring to journalist Tomasz Terlikowski’s statement about the victims of pedophilia in the church. In one of the latest messages, Terlikowski wrote: “Each of us knows someone who has been hurt, in every parish, in every community, in every order and congregation, in every seminary, they have been sexually hurt. The discovery that they are at the center of standing in front of the church changes thinking. There’s no going back to what it was.”

Difficult entry by Libicki
In response to these words, Libicki wrote: “The zeal with which editor Tomasz Terlikowski puts every victim of pedophilia in the center gives me – he admits it is bad – the temptation to stop caring so much about them. For now I am successfully fighting this temptation, but I don’t know for how long…” On Tuesday, Senator Libicki admitted on RMF FM radio that he had made a mistake and apologized to the victims of pedophilia who may have felt offended .
Poland 2050 leader Szymon Hołownia referred to the senator’s statement in an interview with “Super Express” and stressed that it was an “outrageous” statement that should not have happened.
As part of the partnership between Poland 2050 and PSL, Hołownia was asked if he imagined he could be on one list with a person making such judgments. Hołownia noted that as part of ongoing talks on the Senate’s so-called pact, the factions have not yet discussed personal details.
I will have very serious objections to Senator Libicki’s presence after such an absurd, foolish, inhuman, pointless entry
said Holownia.
Libicki as an obstacle to the PSL-Hołownia alliance?
I understand everyone can have weaker moments and get lost somewhere in the discussion, but this was outrageous
Hołownia emphasized.
In the case of sexual abuse of children and young people, of the weaker versus the stronger, you always have to take the side of the victim. If we don’t take the victim’s point of view, if we don’t take the weaker’s point of view, then we’re foregoing some civilizational agreement that directly says what needs to be done
he stressed.
Hołownia was also asked what his announcement that he would have “very serious objections” means in practice.
We’ll see what PSL lists its candidates because we’re still before this process and we’ll see if Senator Libicki will be there
– he said.
He announced that he would talk to PSL president Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz. He added that he wanted to see if there was “deeper reflection” in this group as to Senator Libicki’s behavior.
When I speak to someone who belongs to another party, I first expect that party to take a position and then I address that. That should be the order
Howownia explained.
Communication in the opposition is lacking
The concept of a single list as it has been presented so far is dangerous for all of us; but so far there has been no concrete conversation, I hope communication between the opposition leaders will improve, because we have a month to prepare a proposal
– said the leader of Poland 2050 Szymon Hołownia.
In an interview with “Super Express”, Hołownia said that the opposition was in a “difficult moment” because all opposition parties are losing poll results, and that he said there are two reasons for this turn of events.
The first is that he who sows wind will reap whirlwind. Getting this whole “one list” training inflated expectations, and because they weren’t met, there was tremendous frustration that caused people to demobilize and the Confederacy to grow
– he said.
The moment he sowed the wind by refusing to cooperate and one letter, Hołownia protested.
Let’s be honest. For two years the PSL has clearly said it will never be on the same list of links, for two years now – if I remember correctly – Adrian Zandberg of the Together party has been saying it will never be on the same list with the Civic Platform , and now I’m the murderer on a list
– added.
Hołownia threatens the Confederation
Recalling the situations of the elections in Hungary and the Czech Republic, Hołownia argued that the “single list” in Polish politics is a project that “evokes serious threats”. According to him, in a situation where there are two strong blocs – PO and PiS – voters will want a choice outside of these parties and will look for the “third”. For this reason, in his opinion, the Confederacy’s ratings are now on the rise.
I said to Donald Tusk in November: if you want to polarize Poland and build two strong blocs, you have to make room for a third
– said Hołownia, pointing out that the current result of the Confederacy is a derivative of the principle “where two fight, the third benefits.”
So I say: make room, limit this aggression and this pressure to the wall, make way for a sensible third party that I or someone else can build, but that will not take Poland out of the European Union, that will not recommend beating Poland to children and he will be grateful to Moscow. We agreed it was an idea. And what was there in December?
— he said, indicating that the Confederacy had 13 percent in the polls at the time.
In his view, the concept of a “single list” as presented so far is dangerous for the opposition.
If anyone claims otherwise, if anyone would really like to make this one list, we’re waiting for suggestions. After all, so far there has been no concrete conversation, no one has come and said: listen, I have an idea for one list, let’s sit down at the table and plan it like this. These conversations take place through the media
he said.
When asked if this meant that he had never discussed it with PO leader Donald Tusk, Hołownia replied: “no, because there has never been any specific proposal.”
“One list”, negotiated by the media
He explained that the opposition leaders had to sit down and talk specifically about what it would look like and how they would divide seats in the lists, among other things. Hołownia also recalled that he and PSL president Władysław Kosniak-Kamysz had proposed that the opposition parties host four major conferences, where each party would host one of their own and the rest would be invited as guests. When questioned, he admitted that, of course, he also invited Donald Tusk.
At the moment Donald Tusk is on tour in Silesia, I understand we will talk one way or another when he comes back
– he said.
When asked in what format he had invited the PO leader – through the media or in person – Hołownia said that he had invited all the leaders in the same way: through the media, i.e. at a press conference and in social media. Asked if he thought it was enough, Hołownia replied, “I think so.”
And a list how was it presented? Exactly like that, so through the media
– added.
Today, frankly, the stage of talks between the opposition leaders could be better, I hope that this communication will improve, because we have a month ahead – it seems to me – to prepare a proposal. Me and Kosiniak are doing what we can. (…) We enter into a tactical alliance because we know that the letter must be smaller
said Holownia.
When asked if, as announced, Poland 2050 will announce a joint start of the elections with PSL next week, Hołownia replied that he does not know if it will be next week.
Talks are underway. They take longer because you have to agree on the whole project really well before going out and announcing anything
– he said.
You have to agree on personnel, money, districts, structures
he summed up.
It seems to me that between Christmas and May we should be ready with a message on this matter
said Holownia.
At the same time, he added that “all solutions are allowed, including one list.”
